All Candidates must meet the minimum Elementary Education requirements listed above AND document a minimum of 21 semester hours in one or more of the content areas. If the 21 hours required have been met, the specific Middle School area "met box" will be checked at the bottom of the form below. PLEASE NOTE: The hours used to complete the basic Elementary Education requirements may be used towards the 21 hours needed for Middle School Endorsement. *Please see the bottom of the form below to see exactly where you stand for Middle School Endorsement. Duplicate content may not be used to fulfill Content Competencies. Example: If you have taken "ENGL 101" (or equiv) twice, it may only be counted once on your evaluation. Example: If you have taken "History of US 1" (or equiv), you may not use the "History of US 1" CLEP exam to fulfill additional hours for the Middle School Endorsement. 2. Please note: Elementary Ed students are automatically evaluated for Middle School Endorsement, each time an evaluation is conducted. After 9-4-2013: For add-on Middle School Science - Earth/Space Science is required as well as (2) Labs. For add-on Middle School Math - Both Geometry and Probablity & Statistics are required. 7. Passing Praxis II scores must be submitted with the Gate 3 packet prior to student teaching. Candidates for initial teaching licensure must complete all liberal arts content courses distributed in the six core areas (English, Mathematics, Science, History, Social Science, Arts/Humanities). EVERY competency in the 6 core areas must be completed. All courses must have a prefix that matches the discipline of the competency. 2. Once all of the content areas have been completed, the total number of semester credit hours must be a minimum of 49 hours. 3. Courses from a Bachelor's and/or Post-baccalaureate degree, including CLEP/DANTES/EXCELSIOR exams, can satisfy the competencies. Please see Elementary Education Equivalency Guide that was sent along with your evaluation for suggested courses and exams that will fulfill your remaining competencies. 4. Courses covering the "teaching of a subject" cannot be used for content competencies. 3.
