Ariston industrial electric water heaters are the solution to the need of big quantities of hot water.

In the following pages there is a simple guide that shows how to:• perform hydraulic connections• choose the correct safety group depending on the specific appliance• install the components of the electric water heater• create series of electric water heaters• perform electric connections.

All the indications related to the topic above, studied and carried out by our researcher and technicians, are based on several laboratory tests and years of field experience. The aim of reccomending a specific installation process is achieving the maximum performance from the appliance while assuring to the customer maximum safety. Neverthless, please take into consideration the local regulation in force before installing the appliance.

The electric water heaters of the Industrial range share the following common hydraulic layout:•Hot water outlet at the top of the tank•Cold water inlet at the bottom of the tank•Recirculation on the right-hand side•Drain at the bottom coupled with cold water inlet (please see the hydraulic installation diagram and overall dimensions for each type of appliance).

All installations have to include a PRESSURE RELIEVE safety device against:• Excess pressure in the distribution network• Excess pressure owing to a rise in temperature (expansion during heating)• Excess pressure due to the failure of a thermostat or of a contactor relay

The sizing of a hydraulic safety device depends on:• The capacity of the appliance• The power of the appliance installed

In the table aside you can find a simple choosing guide that shows the suggested pressure safety device for different capacity of the water heater. Please remember that in any case, local legislation must be complied when installing an electric appliance.

In the event of installation of appliances in series, it is necessary to install a pressurerelieve safety device for any appliance of the series, as shown in the installation diagrams in the following page.

Product installation - components

Product installation - possible layouts

The components of Industrial Basic water heater should be installed following the order below:

1 Place the 3 clip nuts2 Screw the 2 or 3 anodes3 seal with 6 screw bolts4 1 plate heating element PAY ATTENTION TO PLACE THE LOOP IN THE LOWER PART5 1 mating flange + 6 nuts6 1 collar7 1 thermostat – terminal board and wiring8 1 insulating jacket9 1 cover10 1 insulating cap

for the above shown installation diagrams please consider that:

- if the pressure of the tap water is higher than 5 bars, install a pressure reducing device before the appliance and its safety accessories.- To allow water expansion, the security valve or safety group assembly should be fitted with a pipe which will allow water to flow into a funnel connected to the drains.- Under no circumstances whatsoever should this pipe be closed by means of a plug or stop valve. Plugging the pipe would lead to excess pressure and the guarantee of the appliance would not longer be valid.- The use of a filter on the cold water inlet at the bottom of the appliance is highly recommended in order to remove all impurities such as sand, gravel, mud, etc...- It is required that you install a “T” on the lower pipe of the appliance to allow a sliding valve to be fitted in order to perform a few “flushes” to get rid of any mud at the bottom of the tank.- a de-aerator with an air bleed on the hot water outlet (to evacuate all dissolved gasses) should be also used.- A inlet security group should always be installed on the water heater’s cold water inlet, respecting the flow direction indicated by the arrows on the body of the inlet security group. The inlet security group safety assembly can be replaced by a safety valve along with a non-return valve and a stop valve on the cold water inlet (as shown in the above hydraulic diagram).

NOTEThe quality of the water distribution piping is of the utmost importance. Pay attention to the connections between differing metals, we advice you to be conform with the instructions of DTU 60-1. Plan a “dielectric insulating union” near the appliance on each pipe connected to the water network.
