MASKINGThe easiest way to create geometric patterns on the wall is by painting. Masking is used to create squares, stripes and lines, either vertical, horizontal or diagonally. Use masking tape for the masking to ensure straight lines. Masking can be combined with dierent decorating techniques. The bottom of walls that get dirty easily can be painted with a darker colour and the top half
with a lighter colour. Masking can also be used for creating stripe eects on the oor.
Paint the walls with Feelings Interior Paint and leave to dry. Measure, draw and mask the pattern on the wall. Press the tape rmly to the surface. Spread the paint on the masked surface with a small roller or brush. Remove the tape when the paint is still wet because the tape comes o more easily
and the border is clean.
DECORATIVE PAINTING WITH A DECORATION ROLLERWith a decoration roller, the design is created quickly, the nish is interesting and individual depending on the painter. The colour of a decorative painted nish becomes vivid and creates a 3-D colour eect. The nish is mostly aected by the colour of the decorative paint and the base
colour only peeps through the surface.
Paint the walls with Feelings Interior Paint and leave to dry. Thin Feelings Eect Finish with ap-proximately 20% water or make the decorative paint by mixing Tikkurila's acrylate interior paint with Lasera 1:1. Spread the decorative paint thinly with a roller in approximately half meter strips. Deco-rate the wet decoration paint immediately with a decoration roller. The best outcome is ensured with two painters - one spreads the decorative paint and the other decorates with the decoration roller. Clean the roller from time to time by rolling it against clean packing paper or wiping with a moist
rag.
STENCILING
Paint the base colour with Feelings Interior Paint and leave to dry. Attach the stencil where
you want it using masking tape or adhesive glue. Poor a small amount of paint on a palette. Dip a
styrofoam stippler lightly in the paint and press the stippler against a paper or the palette. The stippler
should be nearly dry because this helps keep the edges of the stencil painting neat. Stipple with
a light wrist movement directly against the stencil. Wash the stencil from time to time to prevent the
holes from blocking.

STAINING (WOOD GRAINING)
Paint the walls with Feelings Interior Paint and leave to dry. Measure and mask every second
square with masking tape. Spread Feelings Eect Finish on the surface with a small roller using
paint sparingly. Decorate the masked squares with a wide brush with parallel strokes so that the
pattern looks like wood grain. Remove the tapes and leave to dry. Tape the rest of the squares
so that each border shows a couple of millimetres of the decorative surface and decorate the remain-
ing squares in the opposite direction with a brush.
TAIKA PEARL PAINT SILVERAND STENCILING
Prime the wall with Feelings Universal Primer and leave to dry. Roll on Taika Pearl Paint and decorate the length and breadth of the surface with a brush. Do one square at a time. Leave to dry overnight. Plan where you want the decorations and attach the stencil to the wall with masking type or adhesive glue. Spread Tunto Fine Textured Finish with a steel spatula from the edges of the stencil towards the middle. Remove the stencil. Wash or wipe the stencil with a moist absorbent rag between
each stencil.
PROJECTION
Paint the walls with Joker and leave to dry. Project the pattern with an overhead projector or wide
screen television projector onto the wall and lightly trace the pattern with a pencil or a light wood colour.
Paint the pattern carefully with brushes and a short roller, following the outlines of the pattern.

COLOUR WASHColour wash is a simple, easy and quick way to make single coloured walls more interesting.
The nish is a translucent watercolour-type surface that can be
dramatic or soft depending on the choice of colour.
Paint the walls with Feelings Interior Paint and leave to dry. Mix the decorative colour by
adding water to Feelings Eect Finish 1:1 Spread the paint with a sponge in a washing-like, circular
motion. Wipe lightly to spread the colour evenly. Repeat the treatment 2-3 times in order to produce an
even and saturated nish. You can use several colours when colour washing. Let the paint dry between
treatments.
THE RIGHT COLOURS AND HANDY INSTRUCTIONSRemember that in decorative painting the colour of the base and the patterns create the colour eect together.
Innovate suitable decorative solutions for your home and execute them. Experiment and get inspired!
Tips, ideas...
Select the new colour in the lighting of the room you are decorating
Always read the label and product information about the paint before use.
You can nd dierent decoration tools in paint stores but you can also try to use chamois,
plastic bags and dierent brushes for patterning. Use your imagination and come up with more ideas.
Always start by protecting oors, fascias and electric covers. You can also use wide masking type
to protect the ceiling. Remember to remove the masking tape when the paint is still moist.
Always reserve enough paint to nish the job with the same decorating method.
If you get paint in the wrong place, remove it immediately with a moist sponge or cleaning cloth.
Remember to wash the tools with Tool Cleaners as soon as the work is nished.
Do not change the worker in the middle of painting/patterning a wall or the nish may change.
