Education in USA and Moldova
U.S.A. educational system is different in many aspects than in Moldova.Even the first stage of education these two countries differ. American children at
the age of five enter kindergardens, which is the beginning of primary education.
But in Moldova children go to kindergardens at the age of three or four, when
they have five years they have an additional training course for primary
education. In USA at the age of six they go to school and study for six years. In
Moldova primary education takes just four years. In USA at the age of 12 or 13
they begin secondary education, which continues for six more years through the
12th
grade when they graduate from high school. High school covers the same
period as secondary education. The first two years (ages 12 to 14; 7 and 8 grades)are called junior high school and the last four years (ages 15 to 18) are called
senior high school. In Moldova is much easier, they study just five years in
gymnasium. Primary and secondary education is obligatory in both states.
Most of primary and secondary education in the USA is public in contrast to
private education. Public education is free; it requires no tuition or fees. The
public schools are financed by local taxes, district and state governments and by
the federal government. The governance of schools is in the hands of local schoolboards whose members are usually elected by citizens of the school districts. In
Moldova after secondary education is lyceum 3 years, after that if children wants
he can study in generally secondary school 2 years, in trade school one year, in
professional school 3 years or in college 2-5 years much of them arent free. At
the 18th
age children have higher education: first cycle Lycentiate 3-4 years and
second cycle Master 1-2 years. At the 23rd
age if they want they study in
doctorate 3-4 years and post doctorate.
Basically the American grading system is based on ,,C being ,,satisfactory, ,,B
being ,,good, and ,,A being the top grade. The ,,D is below average and ,,F or
,,fail receives no credit for the course. However, many schools have simply ,,S
for ,,satisfactory, and ,,U for ,,unsatisfactory. In Moldova basicall grading
system is on 1 to 10 , when on 1 to 5 is unsatisfactory marks, on 5 to 10 is
satisfactory marks.
After finishing school in USA at the age of 18, on the average, teen-agers decidewhether they want to continue with their education or whether they want to seek
employment. Over half of them enter institutions of higher education. Unless

they enroll in technical or trade school this means four years of college that
culminates in the Bachelor of Arts(B.A) or Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree.
Most college programs are in the form of what is called liberal arts. This means
that over four years student take course in science, mathematics, history, the
humanities, political science, economics, sociology, the fine arts, languages, etc.
In conclusion I can say that even educational system in USA and Moldova are
different they are very important for train future specialists in different fields.
