Information

There are three wireless networks on campus which give you access to the ECU website, the staff intranet, the

internet and other ECU resources:

ECU This is the easiest to use and safest wireless network as it sends data over an encrypted network.

Once connected to the ECU wireless network with your ECU login ID and password, you can

access the internet and intranet.

eduroam This wireless network can be used by visitors from other educational institutions to connect to the

internet whilst on campus.

The following guide will provide instructions on how to connect to the ECU Wireless network, while you’re on campus.

To check which Windows operating system you’re running?

Check for operating system information in Windows 7

Click the Start button, type winver in the search box, and then press Enter.

In the Search box, type winver, and then press Enter.

Windows 7

1. Check to confirm that your operating system is Windows 7

In the Search box, type winver, and then press Enter.

2. Click on Start, and then click Control Panel.

3. Click on Network and Internet. Please Note – Ensure View by: is set to Category.

4. Click Network and Sharing Center.

5. Click on Connect to a network. Please Note - Ensure that your wireless adapter is switched on.

6. Tick Connect automatically, and then click Connect.

7. Enter your username and password, and then click OK.

8. A Windows Security Alert will appear, click Connect.

9. When you see this icon at the bottom-right corner of your toolbar, it means you are already connected to the network.

10. Once you have been connected, you will need to connect to the ECU VPN before you will be able to browse

to external web-pages.

Windows 10

1. Check to confirm that your operating system is Windows 10

In the Search box, type winver, and then press Enter.

2. For the next step, click on the wireless adapter icon.

3. After clicking on the wireless icon the following screen will appear:

4. Select the ECU (Secured) option and click on Connect.

5. Enter user name and password and click OK.

6. If you expect to find the ECU network in this location go ahead and Connect otherwise it may be a different network with the same name.

7. You are now Connected to ECU Wireless.

Mac OS X

1. Click the Wi-Fi icon and select the eduroam (SSID) wireless network.

2. Enter your username and password, tick Remember this network and then click Join. Please note: Your eduroam login ID is your ECU username with @ecu.edu.au at the end

3. When you see this icon at the upper-right corner of your toolbar, it means you are already connected to the network.

4. Once you have been connected, you will need to connect to the ECU VPN before you will be able to browse to external web-pages.

Tip: Connecting on an ECU Laptop on-campus. If you’re connecting on an ECU laptop on-campus, you

will not be prompted for your ADS username and password.
