Greetings Edisto Baptist Association-
Our August EBA Executive Committee Meeting at Mt. Ebal was a display of great
fellowship, a most delicious meal and a good attendance turnout. We surely did miss those of you who were unable to attend. These quarterly meetings bring our EBA directors and committee chairmen together to provide updates and reports regarding their respective areas
of responsibility for our association. All reports were timely and concise. The business discussed this quarter included plans for the EBA annual meeting October 22 at Pleasant Hill when we will hold our final vote on whether or not to disband the Memorial Committee and the Recreation Committee. Technology and liability are the driving forces for this recommendation that was pre-approved at the February Executive Committee Meeting. Other business at the annual meeting will be included in our BOOK OF REPORTS
compiled by Jon Smith, EBA Clerk/Treasurer from the annual updates given to him from the SCBC leadership and the EBA leadership. I urge everyone to submit their reports in a timely manner to give us time to review and print the copies. As we move forward, we will consider matters as citizens, people of faith and how to respond and stand with the word of God in these troubling times. Consider making plans now to attend our time of worship and work at the EBA annual meeting. If you have prayerful thoughts on any resolutions that would state our position as an association of churches regarding matters before us as citizens
and people of faith to be presented at the annual meeting, please contact Rev. Gareth Hegler, our Chairman of the Constitution and Resolutions Committee.
Recently, Mrs. Roma and I celebrated with Bethcar Baptist Church on your behalf to honor
the 20th anniversary of Pastor Chris and Mandy Addy and their daughters, by presenting a
Resolution and Plaque from the EBA to them (see photos on pages 2 and 4).
Four of our churches are without pastors by the end of this month. Please keep them in prayer as they seek to fill their pulpits. Two of our EBA church pastors have moved (Perry
and Rocky Springs) and two EBA church pastors (Berlin and Seivern) will leave these EBA churches August 27. Let’s remember these pastors and their families, along with the membership in prayer as God’s will is fulfilled. I have been asked to provide assistance to two of the churches during this transition, please pray for me as well during this process. Mrs. Roma and I plan to be with Springfield FBC on Sunday Evening, September 10 at 6 PM for the EBA Evangelism Rally. We are encouraging all our churches to join us
there. I have heard some excellent VBS reports from many of your churches and mission trips reports as well. Way to GO EBA CHURCHES! You have a lot to share about your work in the field of missions. I encourage you to attend the August 26 MISSIONS FEST at Bethcar to hear more about missions. You will be blessed by stories and helpful information about missions from all angles. Remember you are SECOND TO NONE! Let’s continue growing. Serving gladly with you for the Glory of His Kingdom,

Mission teams, families, and volunteers can help rebuild in Marion County without disaster relief training. Churches in Nichols, Mullins, and Marion will coordinate accommodations and the homes, tools and materials for volunteers. Groups must bring their own “crew chief” with knowledge of construction work (e.g., sheetrock, painting, finishing, and possibly installing flooring, and roofing). Groups must also provide their own cooks and groceries for meals on this RebuildSC mission

Thoughts from Pastor Adam
Thank you, EBA, for the love, prayer, and financial support as I travel to Romania to teach this year. I was overwhelmed in our last executive committee meeting at the generosity shown toward me and the mission God has called me to do. I am studying toward the Doctorate of Ministry degree at Covington Seminary (which has a campus in Aiken). As part of the curriculum, I have an opportunity to teach at an extension campus in Romania. Covington has sites all over the world. Nearly all of the international extensions are in Second and Third World Countries. In all, Covington has 17 or 18 international sites and nearly 12,000 international
students. Some locations are in countries where the classes have to be taught over SKYPE because of the limited access inside those countries. In fact, students in some of these difficult locations are martyred for their faith. Many of these extensions are in places where there is minimal ability to learn the Word of God the way we can in America. Commentaries and study supplies are limited in the native languages. God put it on my heart several years ago, while working on my Master’s degree, to teach abroad. I have always had a desire to share God’s blessings given to me with others. My desire is other men of God will be blessed and they will multiply the teachings in their own churches. I love the Word of God, I love studying the Word of God, I love preaching the Word of God. Please be in prayer for me as I teach the Word of God September 7 - 16 in a seminary setting for the first time. I am praying that God will use me greatly to encourage, inspire, and adequately teach the book of Colossians in a way that impacts not only the pastors, but also the local churches in Romania. Thank you all again for your love and support!

Bible Drill Curriculum
Teachers of children in grades 1 through 6, if interested, can email [email protected] for more information about beginning a Bible Drill study and attending the EBA Bible Drill workshop. ====================== Pleasant Hill’s Busy Summer on Assignment
Summer has been busy at Pleasant Hill. Teen camps, children’s camps, and of course, VBS was a busy and wonderful week. We are grateful for all the volunteers and workers God blessed us with to make it possible to pull off such a fantastic outreach. Our trip to Clinton was fabulous and God truly blessed the physical labor, as well as the relationships we are building with that body of Christ. Heritage Fellowship has a great vision to reach its community and we look forward to a continued partnership with them in hopes of helping them grow the Kingdom of God. Our last evening in Clinton the pastor and elder's families cooked for us and we had a time of fellowship that allowed us to share our personal stories and vision. The relationships that we churches build with one another on these trips are absolutely vital to Kingdom success. One of the highlights of the trip was when we led three of our own teenagers to Christ! Another three teenagers accepted Christ during youth camp this year. We are happy these teenagers will experience the ordinance of baptism soon.

First Baptist Springfield on Mission
NYC Missions Trip. At Crossroads Church, we ministered with Jamie Rogers and were personally involved in leading eleven children and teenagers to Christ. Twenty-four from Springfield took the trip and led many meaningful spiritual conversations during our mission work there. (See photo below) Summer Block Party in Neeses. We hosted an outreach event in Neeses for several hundred residents. Back to School Bash. We had the opportunity to provide about 250 packs of school supplies to families in our area. About 90 people asked for Bibles and for information on the church. This was a great outreach event! Guatemala Missions Trip. October 7-14 our team will go to Totonicapán, Guatemala to partner with Horeb Baptist Church, the only Baptist church in that city of 20,000 people. The Springfield team will assist in medical clinics in the local schools, light construction work, and children's ministry in elementary and junior high schools. This first mission team will establish connections between individuals and church ministries to continue after we leave. (See photo below)
