EDF CITY PLATFORM
EDF - EMPOWERS CITY MAKERS
Focused on Carbon free energy (95g CO2/kWh)1st nuclear operator in the world 1st European producer of renewable energies1st national power grid in Europe
One of the main European players in energy services
An International group, with in-depth expertise in the low carbon energy sector coupled with a long term commitment to fostering technical, social and buisness innovation.
About 54% of the world’s population lives in urban areas, and this is expected to rise to 66% by 2050. Energy is the backbone of urban developments and drives decarbonization. EDF is convinced that urban design process is critical for cross-sector analysis and integrated thinking, in order to usher the developments for Sustainable Cities and Liveable Communities. EDF has been working closely with local governments across countries to meet the needs and fulfill the objectives of cities today and improve efficiency, quality of life, resilience and attractiveness for the future.
EDF, in partnership with urban planners, proposes an
innovative local energy concept to cut CO2 emissions by half, by placing
energy in the early stage of urban design. The Sino-French team made
up of EDF, Tongji UPDI and l’AUC won the 1st place in the city’s urban
conceptual design competition in November 2014.
EDF’s 3D tool is used by the Housing and Development
Board of Singapore to build the best policies for more sustainable
and liveable neighborhoods. The integrated platform allows to evaluate
the combined impact of initiatives for all the urban indicators.
For the redevelopment of Berlin Tegel airport, EDF
uses virtual prototyping to make the local energy system more effi cient.
EDF developed a multi-energy systems simulation illustrating the interrelation
between different technologies, land uses & planning decisions.
EDF, in partnership with the local air quality agency (ASPA)
and Strasburg City stakeholders, developed and simulated different
evolution scenarios of transport and energy production systems. Their impacts on air quality and noise in the city were assessed, in order to integrate environmental criteria in the overall decision process.
