ECS draws attention to Asia market
QDoes the Indianmarket has the
potential to become akey hub for internationalcargo?
India has all the tools tobecome a key market in the world. Here lives an influential population, which is increasing. India is a bigcountry, though only a small part ofthat population is flying today.
However, I am optimistic about growth because the numbersare surely going to go up in the future and so will the development of trade. Despite theinfrastructural affliction, ECS Groupin India is developing year by year. The country is changing and going inthe right direction; the number of aircraft is rising and that is good forcargo. People are opting foreCommerce and want quick deliveries. Hence, it will boost cargo development.
QHow do you foreseeIndia’s contribution in
comparison to yourglobal presence? Areyou satisfied with thefigures?
It is around five to 10 per centof the total profit. And, yes I am completely satisfied with the growthbecause we created everything
from scratch and did not buy it, so the development is being great and we have lots of possibilityto continue our growth. Moreover, 19 offices and more than 120 staff isan achievement.
QPlease elaborate on the alliance
with Air Asia.
Rajendra Dubey: Air Asia, inthe domestic sector, is a new devel-opment for us. They started fromscratch and we are the cargo GSAfor them from day one. It is a growingairline. They have five aircraft and aregoing to add three more aircraft thisyear. Consequently, we are also try-ing to reach more than 1,000 tonnesevery month on that.
QDo you find anychanges in the airline
demands with thechanging environment?
Airlines want more dedicatedservices today and more commit-ments from our side. Cargo ismore important for them than inthe past. Therefore, they wantmore ideas from us not only abouthow to increase tonnage, but also yield.
These carriers not only wantGSSAs to sell point-to-point cargo, but also larger network destina-tions, so as to increase their
revenues. Well, we are all set to facethese new challenges.
QHas the Greece crisisand the decline in
euro affected yourbusiness?
Bertrand Schmoll: Not at all, even the decline in euro vis a vis the US dollar has helped the business in Europe.
Rajendra Dubey: Likewise, business in India has not declined. We are going to reach the turnoverof `300 crore now. Last year weclosed at `110 crore.
