OUR CHILDREN GRANVILLE EAST PUBLIC SCHOOL
TERM 3 - WEEK 2 THURSDAY 27TH JULY 2017
Welcome to Term 3!
We are two weeks back from break—and straight into the hurley-burley of learning! I hope you all had a restful break and are ready for the challenges ahead.
Our School goals for the term are:
To deepen student skills in writing—especially the ability to craft texts by making deliberate choices to impact a reader;
To strengthen connections between students, teachers and families by deepening our learning conversations; and
To continue to teach and expect student self-regulation in learning.
What are your goals for the term??
1st ever Business Expo @ GEPS!
Earlier this week, Stage 3 students show-cased the businesses they had developed last term. The event was attended by teachers, students from other classes and parents.
Each business had a rationale, mission statement, advertising poster, video promotion and samples on display! It was a marvellous display of innovative thinking; business acumen; teamwork; and real-life learning. Congratulations to Stage 3—and looking forward to buying things next time!
Sydney Story Factory
Some Stage 3 students and parents met the Sydney Story Factory this week. They are running a journalism program with Ms Crawford’s writing group every Wednesday afternoon. What an opportunity—can’t wait to see the newspaper they develop!
And—still on Stage 3—our Year 6 T-shirts arrived this week. Don’t they look fabulous! Louise Reynolds, Principal
1/2B have been learning all about living things and the environments they live in. Last week of term 2, we had a great opportunity to explore
more learning about mini-beast from our travel bug incursion.
Students had the chance to have a closer look at the different kinds of mini-beasts and explore what they are like.
Blouza Hall Community and Conference Centre
This building has social significance, as a local cinema from 1948 until 1963 and since then has been adapted for use as a public hall for social and entertainment purposes.
The Australian Blouza Association was formed in 1954.
Hire the Blouza Hall
The Blouza Hall has everything you need for your event…
Main Hall - The enormous entertaining space (480 square metres) within the Blouza Hall is perfect for any size gathering. Whether you're holding a sit-down formal event, a large dance, or stage production, the 42 square metre space will suit your requirements.
Stage - The raised stage area can accommodate a full rock 'n roll band, a DJ, or just a lone speaker standing at the lectern.
Audio/Visual - Our PA system allows you to roam around the room with our wireless microphones. You can play movies or watch TV on the big screen using the video projector and DVD player, or bring along your own notebook computer and plug it into the system to display your presentation to your guests.
Bar and Foyer - The bar area, together with the Foyer entry, is ideal for welcoming guests, and can also be utilised for marshalling people into your function for seating. The foyer measures 120 square metres.
