update #04- JULY009 May and June are traditionally a busy period for everyone associated with education, and this year was no different for easa010. On the 15th May easaHQ open its doors to the public for the first time at our office warming event. The event was low key with friends of easa invited for tea and cake. The highlight of the night was the announcement of the winner of the easaHQ competition. All entries including the shortlist were displayed, with Nicos Yiatros announced the winner by event coordinator Tom Bennell. A week after the office warming, easaHQ hosted its first general admission event. Marking the final party for the Manchester Architecture and Design Festival 2009, the Manchester School of Architecture’s Event Month program used the extended gallery space to good effect. Photographs and details of both events are available on the easa010 newsreel: www.easauk.net Each summer since 1981, around 400 of the brightest students from every part of Europe have come together for 2 weeks of intense workshops, lectures, exhibitions and events, in the name of exchange of ideas, culture and experience.

In June the events team’s focus turned to The Cutting Room Experiment. Ear to the Ground, working with NWDA and New East Manchester; put together what they called ‘the biggest user generated event in the world’.

easa010’s event, ‘Faceless Identity’, was chosen as one to be put in to action. The day was a huge success and a lot of fun. More details of the day can be found on: www.cuttingroomexperiment.com

easaUK have been given a page in the Manchester School of Architecture end of year catalogue. The catalogue is produced to pro" le the work being done at in the school that year. The inclusion of easa is a de" nite indication of the importance that the school has placed on the event, as well as their continued support of all the e! orts the team is putting in.

easaUK2010 is delighted to announce renewed ties with the MSSA, as well as new working relationships with Chair TV and Avante Gaude Fashion. Events are in the planning stages and details will be announced on www.easauk.net " rst
