Early Years Strategy

Aim1. To develop integrated flexible services to provide effective learning and childcare for all children and families.

• High quality in LA classes and centres• Good inspections across partner provider settings• Development of literacy and numeracy trackers• Maintaining the improvements to deferred entry• Planned and opened new nursery class provision• Additional training to support 0-3

Early Years StrategyAim2. To develop a highly skilled and motivated workforce to

deliver a high quality Early Years service• All LA staff registered with the SSSC• 59 practitioners studying for the BA/17 completed• 9 supported for prof dev award• 7 completed the Froebel qualification• Plans to train staff to deliver 600 hours• Introduction of SEYO post

What next?Implementation of the Children and Young People Act (Scotland)• Passed in February• Draft statutory guidance issued• Commencement 1st August 2014• Parts 6,7 and 8 relate to Early Learning and Childcare and the

powers within LA related to day care and out of school care• Entitlement of early Learning and Childcare for all 3 and 4 year olds• Increased numbers of eligible two year olds to include children from

“workless households.”

This needs clarifying, is your theory that the %of families participating is lower because it is not being recorded correctly? or is it the way the process is managed is leading to low attendance figures?Perhaps you need to tease this one out a bit, I also commented on charter about completeness of assessment, this isn;t on driver diagram.I would try to stay away from a driver that is about measurement, weighing a pig regularly doesn't increase its weight...
