The Eag le Serie s of PIR-018H, PIR-045H and PIR-100H Outd oo r Passive Infrared Dete ctors aredesign ed for d etection o f intruders at dista nces 27,60 or 150 me tre s respect ively. The Ea g le PIR-018His a so-called volumet ric det ecto r, i.e. it covers alarge surface with a wide angle. It has a nominalran g e o f 27met res. The Ea g le PIR-045H and PIR-100H are long range curtain type detectors, i.e.they cover a long na rrow area w ith a nominalrange of up t o 60 and 150 met res.
The d et ecto rs incorpora te microprocessor con-trolled sig na l processing including signa l sha pean alysis, a da ptive t hreshold level by fe edb ack ofenvironment al effects, tempera ture compen sat ionan d rejection of disturba nce sign als.
The Eag le PIR det ectors are d esig ned to be used inconjunction w ith a CCTV system w here t hey canalert the operat or of a ny motion in the coveredarea . They a re a lso very useful in comb ina tion w itha Video Motion Detector (VMD) w here the tw o
units provide mutual alarm verificat ion, i.e. bot hunits must d etect a n intruder before a n a larm israised.
The Eag le PIR-045H an d PIR-100H are typica lly usedfor perimeter prote ction a nd securing of longbu ildin g s w he rea s th e Ea g le PIR-018H is used fo rsecuring o pen spaces e.g. in front of a building.
Since the Eagle PIRs only react to infrared radia-tion, they can b e used during da y and night asw ell a s und er chang ing climat ic cond ition s such asfog , rain and snow .
The Ernitec Ea g le PIRs are t ruly pa ssive de viceswhich detect objects entering or crossing their
field o f view. The d etectors are design ed to det ectan y intruder by his movement an d infrared con-trast ag ainst th e ba ckground . The de tectors do notemit any signa l, nor do they req uire a transmitterto be locat ed n ea rby. This eliminat es inte rferencebetw een d etectors and prevents potential intrud-ers from d etecting t he coverag e a rea. Multipledet ectors can be combined in order to increa se th ecoverage area.
Detection Algorithm The ba ckg round n oise is sam pled a t a rat e ofapprox. 300 per second a nd a verag ed over a largenumber o f cycles giving a noise d epende nt valuefor the a larm threshold and to start t he signa lsha pe a na lysis w henever a certa in amplitud e valueis exceeded.
If t he t hreshold ha s temporarily been increased byhigh ba ckground n oise or repea ted mo vements inthe f ield o f view , the exponential decay o f t heth resho ld level to its orig inal value w ill ta ke
ap prox. 1-2 minutes from the end of the e vent.
Once the first threshold level value has beenexceede d, t he m icroprocessor sta rts its signa lshape a nalysis routine wh ere a numb er of interd e-pend ent pa ramet ers including pea k amplitud e,rate o f rise, time w indo w s and o verall shape arecalculated and analysed.
If th e rate of rise of the signa l is too high, a s mayhappen as a result of RF interference, lightning, shock w a ves or birds flying a cross the field of viewclose to the unit, a possible a larm w ill be rejected .
This a lso me an s tha t a very fast mo vement directlyin front of t he detector may not lead to a n alarmeven though the a mplitude w ould b e largeenough.
Only if a signal meets all the predetermined crite-ria an alarm w ill be generated .
The Ea g le PIR det ectors ha ve d ifferent ial sensorsw hich - in combinat ion w ith t he Ada ptive Thresh-old Decoding - minimize the probability ofnuisan ce a larms. Any chang e in the ba ckgroundtemperature will be detected by both parts of the
differential sensors and w ill not give an alarm,w hereas an intruder w ill provoke a seque ntialchang e of infrared rad iat ion in the tw o parts of

The Ea g le PIR-100H ha s three Zon es fo r long ,med ium an d short ran ge d etection w ith individua lsignal processing of the three channels for excep-tional det ection t o nuisan ce a larm rat io.
Furth ermo re, the t hree Eag le PIRs a re eq uippedwith automatic temperature compensation cir-cuits. The Ea g le PIRs det ect ra diat ion d ifferen ces ofa t arg et a ga inst its ba ckground. In the course ofthe d ay a nd yea r the contrast of a person w ill varyconsidera bly and af fect t he sign al strength. Tocompensat e fo r this contrast variat ion, the Eag lePIRs have internal te mperat ure compensat ion w ithma ximum sensitivity a t a pprox. 30 C (w here t hecontrast of a human ta rget is w eakest) and grad-ual reduction at higher and lower temperatures.
Finally, the Ea gle PIRs a re also e q uipped w ith
Ada pt ive Thre shold Deco ding (ATD). The ba ck-ground noise is constan tly averag ed a nd used toa djust the th reshold levels fo r the a larm. Thisspecial feature is reducing the probability ofnuisan ce alarms cau sed b y w ind, moving veget a-tion or ob jects tha t ha ve a the rmal cont rast al-tho ugh usually we aker than a person.Ea ch signa l exceeding a certa in minimum va luew ill activa te th e ATD a nd increa se

More-over, the gua rds w ill be alert ed if the unit is out ofservice due to ma intenance work.
