Visitors Signing InWe often have a number of visitors at our school every day. To ensure all visitors are at school for the right reasons we are requesting that all visitors sign in at the front office. At this point visitors will be issued with a visitors lanyard which clearly identifies them. If you are working in the canteen, kitchen garden or as a parent helper please sign in at the front office to receive your visitors lanyard and so that we can keep a track on who is in the school especially in the case of an emergency.
School Uniform
With the recent rainy weather there has been an increase in a variety of non-school uniform jumpers, jackets and beanies worn at school. It would be great if parents let their children know that they are not allowed to wear non-school uniform items to school. We appreciate your support with this.
For those that have a twitter account you can follow @vasseps for plenty of tweets from the school. We tweet regularly about activities and events happening around the school.
Our school website www.vasseps.wa.edu.au is interactive and updated weekly. See the Latest News posts, current school year planner (Calendar) and Events coming up. Plus you can also easily send absentee notices by clicking the Absentee button on the website.
Winter Sports Carnival
On Friday 28th June our students will participate in the annual Winter Sports Carnival in Busselton. We will be taking teams to participate in Football, Hockey, Soccer and Netball. Our teams are predominately made up of our year 6 students with some Year 5's making up numbers where needed. I am confident our students will display the appropriate amount of competitiveness and plenty of positive sportsmanship behaviour.
Reports
On Wednesday 3rd July all students will be issued with their Semester One reports. The reports will be emailed out so ensure the office has your current email address. Please be aware the email link will expires after 4 weeks. The teachers have worked hard to ensure these reports are valid and represent the student’s progress for the first half of the year. I would ask all students not to compare with one another what they received as they are very individualised. Some teachers may have requested an interview on the reports, I urge parents to take up this offer to work together to achieve the best outcomes for the students.
Phone messages
Occasionally we receive phone messages from parents for students. Can I request that if you have a message for your child please call before 2:30pm to ensure your child will receive the message. Phone messages received after this time are not guaranteed to reach the student, although we will try our best.
150th Year Celebration
Many of you would know that Vasse Primary is having its 150th Anniversary this year. We have a time capsule and many exciting events happening over the week 5th - 9th November. We are also looking for any historic photos or information that we can add to our display and celebration. Please contact the school if you have any photos or memorabilia the school may be able to use.
Regards, Sinan Kerimofski

Guinness World Records 2020 Book Pre-Order forms due 20 JuneThe Guinness World Record 2020 book (hopefully with Vasse Primary School in it) is available to purchase through the pre-order form sent home with the eldest child of each family last week. It has also been advertised through social media and made available on the school website to download. Barefoot Books have kindly given us a 10% discount ($39.99) with a further 10% of the sales going to the P&C.
Bendigo BankWe had Bendigo Bank attend our last P&C meeting and provide information to everyone. After much discussion it has been decided that we would switch from Commbank to Bendigo Bank. The two main reasons for the switch were;
1. Bendigo Bank will provide their own staff to visit the school to facilitate the school banking, therefore we would not have to rely on volunteers to run this program.
2. Bendigo gives back to our community investing their profits back to where we live.
Disco Friday 21st JuneThe Year 4 Disco "Pyjama Party" will be held on Friday 21st June , 6pm - 7:30pm. Please return notes & payment to the front office by Wednesday 19th June.
Songs for Sirens Fundraiser Week 10Weeks 8 & 9 we are collecting gold coin donations and the class who collects the most money will choose the songs for sirens each day in week 10. Collection Tubs are located in the classrooms.
Next P&C meeting - ALL WELCOME! Wednesday 3 July @ 7pm - VPS Staff Room. Vikki Plackett 0458 536 647 [email protected] • Lee-Anne Walker [email protected]
Congratulations to VPS Year 6 student Zavion who raised $3,000 by having his gorgeous long curly locks shaved to raise money for the Perth Children’s Hospital (where he had been successfully treated for bone cancer at age 5). I attended the ceremonial cutting during the Busselton Chamber of Commerce meeting on Monday night. Zavion is a real inspiration to our community for kids and adults.Start the conversation. Talk to your children over dinner tonight about ways they can give back to their community? You can contact Busselton Volunteers, search online for ideas, or follow your heart.Peace and joy, Rae [email protected]
