5. Development areas and new projects
The areas of development are the following:
1- USAC (University Studies Abroad Consortium) :
USAC is a group of over 30 U.S. universities joined together to offer high-quality study abroad experiences to its students. For over 21 years the organization, based at the University of Nevada- Reno, has helped thousands of students to study abroad and has grown to include 35 programs in 24 countries. From its flagship programs in northern Spain to the newest programs in the Netherlands and India, USAC offers unique and challenging experiences around the world.
In Italy, USAC has two programs: the Torino program has existed for almost 20 years and has grown to 100 students this Spring, 2006 semester; the new Viterbo program is off to a successful start in its first semester ever (January 2006).
The SAA offers USAC a further special opportunity which bolsters and extends the program’s most admirable qualities. International students, coming through the SAA’s partnerships with North American and European universities, also attend USAC courses, leading to the great diversity of the student body and bringing valuable international perspectives to the classroom.
