Son of Dr. William George and Louisa Atkinson Webb,he was bornin Cameron Ohio, January 1, 1879, the youngest of five children. He received his early education thereand was a graduate of the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Baltimore, MD (Now knownas John'sHopkins) in the class of 1904. Dr.Webb practiced medicine in Belmont, West Virginia from 1904 to1909 untilencouraged by a colleague, Dr O. D. McCoy, to move to Warwood, "a growing community", and practice medicine. Dr. Webb volunteered as the Warwood High school Physician fromthe inception of the school till the day of his death. He also provided his services to the Ohio county Draft Boardas a member of the U.S. Volunteer Medical Service Corps for World Wars | & ll. He was a member of the Ohio County MedicalAssociation, West Virginia Medical Association, the West Virginia State Gladioli Association andthe American Rose and Peony Society. He also served as a director of the Bankof Warwood, a member of the Warwood Boosters club,and a member of the First Christian Church. Dr. Webb provided care to everyone in the community regardless of race or socialstature. His interest was personal and intimate, witha deep desire to care for his people before anyconcern for his ownfinancial gain. Many timesa patient wouldhave trouble getting him to accept his rightful fee. Sometimes his advice was, "Don't paynow; it'scheaper if youwaitfor a bill." His award winning hybrids brought him greatnotoriety in horticultural circles. His mostfamous hybrid, the "White Symphony" gladiola, wonthe highest award given by the National Council of state garden clubs. He alsonamed oneof his peony hybrids for the renowned opera singer, Eleanor Steber. This flower has taken awards in several peony shows. Dr. William Stephen Webb1879- 1952Public Service

The community referred to him as their "family doctor'', butthe esteem in which they held him showed clearly that theyconsidered him more "family" than "doctor''. All his life, "Doc"Webb's patients came first, last, and always. He neverceased to give the best he had or look for the best in others.

Son of Dr. William George and Louisa Atkinson Webb, hewas born in Cameron Ohio, January 1, 1879, the youngestof five children. He received his early education there andwas a graduate of the College of Physicians and Surgeonsof Baltimore, MD (Now known as John's Hopkins) in theclass of 1904.
