Dr. Duke Bradley, III is a lifelong educator with over 15 years of collective professional experience. Originally from Columbus, Georgia, Dr. Bradley has spent much of his formative years and adult life in Atlanta. Dr. Bradley holds a B.A. in English Literature from Morehouse College, M.A.T. from Brown University, a law degree from John Marshall Law School and a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership from The University of Southern Mississippi. He has also completed the Harvard University Graduate School of Education’s Leading Change in Education Systems Program of Study. Dr. Bradley taught high school English at two DeKalb County, Georgia high schools and later attended law school. While in law school, Dr. Bradley worked as a congressional intern, focusing his research on education policy and worked for 4 years as a legal studies instructor and program coordinator with the Georgia Department of Technical and Adult Education after graduation.  Most recently, Dr. Bradley served as Executive Director of Wesley International Academy (WIA), a K-8 open-enrollment public charter school operating in partnership with Atlanta Public Schools. At WIA, Dr. Bradley was credited with several key accomplishments – chief among them was securing charter renewal, managing the school’s re-accreditation process, and overseeing the full authorization of the school’s International Baccalaureate programs. Managing an operational budget of over 8 million dollars, Dr. Bradley also secured additional revenues through the award of federal grants including the highly competitive federal dissemination grant. Under his leadership, Wesley International Academy has earned several other honors including the distinction of being featured on NBC’s Today Show. Prior to Wesley, Dr. Bradley managed startup operations and strategy for Chattahoochee Hills Charter School alongside Board Chairman John C. Reid, and worked in New Orleans, Louisiana – having contributed to the city’s 24 million dollar Phase I education reform initiative by founding one of that state’s first transformation charter schools. For his work, he received national recognition - having been featured in media outlets such as US News, TheGrio.com, American Public Radio, News Hour, NPR, and the Times-Picayune. In 2015, Dr. Bradley was a named an Education Policy Fellow with the Georgia Partnership for Excellence in Education and was accepted into the most recent cohort of New Leaders Council. Dr. Bradley is a member of the 100 Black Men of Atlanta, Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Incorporated, and is an alumnus of the United Way of Metro Atlanta’s Volunteer Involvement Program.

Dr. Bradley is pleased to serve as Principal of Banneker High School. More importantly, he looks forward to engaging and collaborating with the South Fulton Community to extend Banneker’s tradition of pride and excellence.

Meet the JA-MBA Faculty and Staff

Principal

Jon grew up in New York City. He was raised in a pre-dominantly Jamaican community in the North East Bronx. He owes most of his success to a program he participated in called Prep for Prep. Prep for Prep is a highly selective leadership development program that incorporates a rigorous 14-month academic component to prepare students for placement in leading independent schools. Jon went on to go to the Ethical Culture Fieldston School, pre-dominantly Jewish independent school located in Riverdale, Bronx. At Fieldston, Jon was the President of Diaspora, a diversity awareness club, and an STS leader, which is a student to student mentoring program focused on ethics. He was also a 2 year captain of the Varsity Football and Basketball teams. After high school, Jon went on to attend Emory University where he graduated with a dual degree in Economics and Sociology. At Emory, Jon was the philanthropy chair of Alpha Epsilon Pi Fraternity, a member of the Make-a-Wish Foundation, a member of our the poetry club Minds on Mic, and a frequent volunteer for the Frazer Center. Passionate about purpose and committed to community, Jon strives to lead and engage with others to build a better future. His hobbies and interests include basketball, the New York Knicks, the New York Giants, Game of Thrones, his dog Molly, and gummy bears.

Dr. Debro grew up in Dekalb County and graduated from Southwest DeKalb High School. She earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Food and Nutritional Science and Dietetics from Tuskegee University. While at Tuskegee, Dr. Debro participated in several fall and summer internships including the Tuskegee Sweet Potato Research Project and the Ronald E. McNair Food Science Research Program. After graduating from Tuskegee, she worked at Egleston Children Hospital as a Diet Technician. Her interest in science education led her to the University of Georgia where she earned a Masters in Science Education. She taught Physical Science, Chemistry and AP Chemistry for over 11 years. She also served as Science Department Chair, Academic Lead Teacher, Science Instructional Coach and School Improvement Specialist before arriving at Banneker High School. She has one daughter and enjoys watching movies, reading and outdoor activities. Dr. Debro is a lifelong learner and enjoys applying what she has learned to support and improve the educational environment for students and teachers.

Ms. Meuse grew up in Stone Mountain, Georgia. She graduated from Florida A&M University with a degree is Social Science Education. After graduation, she accepted a fellowship at Stanford University where she researched and archived historical documents. During her fellowship, Ms. Meuse facilitated community discussions focusing on service learning as a youth engagement strategy. This experience introduced Ms. Meuse to the careers in youth development and led her to a position as a Service Learning Coordinator with Hands On Atlanta at South Atlanta High School and Program Director for the “I Have a Dream”® Foundation. Ms. Meuse earned a Master of Science degree in Youth Development Leadership. She has worked for Junior Achievement of Georgia for five years and excited to work with JA-MBA at Banneker High School.

Ms. Morgan was born and raised in DeKalb County, where she graduated from Chamblee High School. She earned a Bachelor's Degree in History with a concentration in Education from Jackson State University (JSU). During her tenure at JSU, she participated in summer internships to enhance and supplement her academic and professional growth. These internships include research at George Washington's Mount Vernon Estate and Gardens, Louisiana State University, and a pre-service teacher institute sponsored by Jackson State and NASA. After graduating from JSU in 2010, Ms. Morgan began teaching American Government, World Geography, and AP Human Geography. She is a strong believer in a commitment to education, as she has received a Master's in Social Studies Education from Mercer University, a Gifted endorsement, and a ESOL endorsement. While at Mercer, Ms. Morgan was granted the opportunity to teach in Liberia and assist with research in Malawi, Africa. She enjoys travelling, experiencing other cultures through food and spending time with family and friends. Ms. Morgan is committed to her students by providing love, support, and encouragement to help them succeed.

Mr. Alvarado was born and raised in Gwinnett County where I enjoyed playing sports, being outside, and making movies. I completed my Bachelors of Science in Business Management with focuses in Accounting and Marketing from the Georgia Institute of Technology. During my studies, I worked construction as an assistant superintendent and architectural intern. I then earned my Master of Business Administration degree from Kennesaw State University. During my MBA studies, I simultaneously earned a second bachelors degree in education. I am certified in High School Mathematics as well as in Middle Grades Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies. While at KSU, I worked as a Graduate Teaching Assistant for a business law professor that specialized in advocating rights for underprivileged minors. I also obtained a Minor in Film Studies while at KSU. I have continued to pursue screen writing, filming, and acting in my free time as well as playing baseball in an adult league with my brother.

Ms. Allen was born at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta, GA. She grew up in South Fulton County and graduated from Creekside High School in Fairburn, GA. While at Creekside High School, Ms. Allen participated in Student Government Association, Peer Mentoring Program, National Association for Marketing Students, Jobs for Georgia Graduates, Talented and Gifted Program, JROTC, and Yearbook Club. An inspirational teacher/mentor led Ms. Allen to begin a career in education, where she could be a positive force in the lives of her students just as that teacher was for her. Ms. Allen attended Clayton State University where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English with Teacher Certification while maintaining a perfect 4.0 GPA. During her time at Clayton State University, Ms. Allen completed over 3,600 of community service with the AmeriCorps National Service Organization where she partnered with various organizations such as Habitat for Humanity, Trees Atlanta, Hands on Atlanta, Boys and Girls Club, Special Olympics,the Clayton County Public Schools System, and many more. Ms. Allen was also initiated into the Sigma Sigma Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. where she was recognized for outstanding Academic Achievement and student involvement receiving special recognition from the organization as the Member with Highest GPA, Member of the Region, and Most Promising Undergraduate Member. Prior to graduation Ms. Allen was honored by the University System of Georgia and received the Chancellor’s Academic Achievement Award. Ms. Allen loves to shop and spend time with love ones. Ms. Allen’s life goal is to be a positive impact in the lives of others. She is an advocate for social justice and believes that education is one of the strongest weapons one can use in the war against oppression.

Ms. Dorothy Walter is a native of Atlanta, and is a proud product of the Atlanta Public School System, where she attended C. L. Harper High School. She earned a B.A. Degree in Accounting from Clark Atlanta University, an MBA Degree from Troy State University (Troy Alabama), an Educational Specialist Degree from Argosy University, and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Career and Technical Education from Auburn University. Prior to becoming a teacher, Ms. Walter worked with Morgan Stanley – Dean Witter, as a Margin Analyst, as well as an Accountant for the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation. Additionally, she has served as Department Chair of the Career and Technical Education (CTE) Department at Creekside High School, Business Academy Coordinator (Creekside High School), and Pathway Specialist for Fulton County Schools’ CTE Department. Ms. Walter is married and has one daughter who attends the University of Alabama, where she is majoring in International Business and Political Science. Ms. Walter is passionate about teaching and learning, and works diligently to ensure that all students learn to their full capacity. Ms. Walter is very excited about joining the JA-MBA program at Banneker High School and looks forward to sharing innovative teaching strategies that will make learning fun

for her students.

Ms. Champion comes with over 13 years of teaching experience in the subject areas of Marketing and Business, and taught in a middle and high school setting. She is a graduated from Florida A&M University with her MBA degree in Human Resources and Marketing. Native of Florida and has been living in the Atlanta area for over 10 years. Prior to teaching, she worked previously in the Human Resources, Hospitality and Retail Marketing industry. During her years of teaching, she has been actively involved as an Advisor of DECA (a Marketing Association), FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America), and 21st Century Leaders, Inc. (a Service and Leadership Organization). She believes that all children can learn, maybe at a different learning pace or learning style

Ms. Lane grew up in DeKalb County and attended Chamblee High School. She later moved to California where she graduated from Temescal Canyon High School.  She earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology from Agnes Scott College. While at Agnes Scott, Ms. Lane studied for a Dual Degree in Nursing with Emory University and participated in various STEM activities including the Atlanta Science Festival held at Centennial Park, focusing on genetics and neuroscience.  After graduating from Agnes Scott College, her experience in tutoring and speed teaching at the festivals and in her neighborhood, led her to combine her interest in science with her desire to educate. She became a corp member for Teach For America and trained in Fulton County Summer Schools before arriving at Banneker High School. She has one son and enjoys going to the park, shopping and dancing. Craig grew up in Eufaula, Alabama and attended Columbus College in Columbus, Ga. While attending college, he moved to Atlanta, GA to continue to pursue his career in film and television broadcasting and production. Craig worked at Piedmont Hospital Center for Rehabilitation Medicine for over six years until his was able to apply his love of film and television into a position as a Marketing Operations Specialist for Digital Insight. There he helped provide client training and designed digital online marketing campaigns for banking institutions worldwide. Among those were such campaigns as Quicken Loans, Visa Quick Pay and Turbo Tax, just to name a few. Craig is currently attending college while pursuing his career in radio and television. He can be seen in upcoming episodes of season 6 The Walking Dead and Complication on USA Network and Comedy Central’s One Mic Stand.
