Douglas Coupland in his book Hey Nostradamus and Michael McGowan in his movie

Saint Ralph conveys that we are all sinners, if we accept and acknowledge our sins

instead of manipulating others to believe in our innocence and by doing so, it will give usthe ability to connect to God and form a community that believes in forgiveness and

acceptance.

Argument #1

Douglas Coupland in his book Hey Nostradamus shows how Jason accepts his quilt and

sin when he attempts to kill Yorgo, instead of screaming and convincing the people thathe was innocent in1988. Jason accepts the fact that he did kill Mitchell even though he

thought that that was the right thing to do and it did saved a lot of lives. Jason realizes

that killing someone like Yorgo and Mitchell but he feels that forgiveness is the solution

to a heart filled with rage, fear and hate. “But there’s this other part of me, the part that’sshed the block of hate, the part that decided not to kill Yorgo “Jason soon realized that all

the hate that was plunged in his heart fell and shattered in to pieces and for the first time

after the massacre that happened in 1988, he had in his heart peace and happiness. Jason

realizes that when he accepted his insecurities, it kind of understood his father’s perceptive and Jason felt sympathy and a connection between his Reg. “I was happy, but

I was annoyed. Maybe in spite of all my attempt to block it, my father’s sense of will had become my own. Oh, dear God”

Argument #2

Michael McGowan in his movie Saint Ralph conveys to his readers that, by accepting anthe quilt and fear of your sins, even an ordinary person has the ability to perform a

miracle. Ralph Walker things that he is a big time sinner and when he finds out that the

only way to wake his mom from her coma is to become holy and pure. Ralph confesseshis sins and by doing so, he finds his way in to achieving his goal which was to perform a

miracle by winning The Boston marathon. Ralph Walker proves to people that onceyou’re comfortable in your skin, then your soul will lead the way to the path that you aresuppose to take regardless of the people judgments.

Argument #3Douglas Coupland illustrates in his novel Hey Nostradamus, that by embracing you’re

sins, you develop a sense of understanding towards the behaviours of people around you.

Cheryl admits that she is sex crazed and by admitting and understanding her wants, she

finds peace and understanding towards her behaviour. She doesn’t care what the peoplearound her have to say about her character, and she knows that she doesn’t have to go on

proving that fact that she is a innocent and naive teenage girl. “Truth be told I wanted

everything those kids had, but I wanted it by playing the game correctly. This meantlegally and religiously and – this is the part that was maybe wrong”. Cheryl admits to the

fact that she is willingly bending and manipulating her religion in to getting what she

wants, and she thinks that she will be judged by her deeds not her wishes.
