“PASTOR PAUL’S PARAGRAPHS”
Dear Members and Friends of the Sweetwater Baptist Church:
Homecoming is a special time! Our annual Homecoming celebration will be on Sunday morn-
ing, August 10th. It will be our 182nd anniversary! Dr. Jim Austin, Executive Director of the South
Carolina Baptist Convention will be our guest speaker. We are very fortunate to have him with us.
Our Sunday School will begin at 9:15am. Our morning worship will begin at 10:30am followed by a
fellowship luncheon in the Family Life Center. Please, bring your favorite covered dishes for the
meal. We are also encouraging each person and family to bring an extra offering to contribute to the
budget as a gesture of our love for the Sweetwater Baptist Church. Please, make plans to be a part of
this special day of celebration, worship, and fellowship.
Our upcoming Homecoming reminds me of the importance and significance of the church. The
church is a divine institution established by Christ. Jesus told Simon Peter in Matthew 16:18, “And I
say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of
hell shall not prevail against it.” This verse reveals that the church has a bright and glorious future.
Jesus loves the church and gave himself for it (Ephesians 5:25). In the same manner we should love
our church by supporting it, praying for it, and promoting it. Jesus is also the head of the church.
Colossians 1:18 declares, “And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the
firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.” We must never take our
church membership for granted, but appreciate and cherish it. It is truly a privilege and a blessing to
be a member of the Body of Christ and the Sweetwater Baptist Church!
A critical aspect of the organization of the church is leadership. We will be approving the pro-
posed roster of leaders and officers for the 2014-2015 church year on Wednesday evening, August
20th. A special “thank you” goes out to our Nominating Committee for all of their hard work in se-
curing individuals to serve for the upcoming church year. Also, we will be selecting three new dea-
cons during this special called business meeting. Please, be much in prayer concerning this im-
portant evening, as well as the leadership of the Sweetwater Baptist Church.
There is a lot taking place throughout August. Be sure to consult the entire newsletter concern-
ing the numerous activities and events scheduled during the month.
It is a privilege and a joy to serve you!!
With a Pastor’s Love,
Brother Paul Philippians 1:3

August Memory Verse
“Oh, how great are God’s riches and wisdom and knowledge! How
impossible it is for us to understand His decisions and His ways.”
Roman 11:33 NLT
As the children go back to school this month encourage them about all the
new things that they will learn, but remind them of how great The Lord is
and that He has a perfect plan for their lives. Encourage them to grow in
their relationship with Him this year just as much as they’ll grow in their
education.
