Education Camp Themes• Sustainable living• Caring for the environment• Thoughtfulness and meditation• Independence

This is an educational camp and the children’s focus will be on these themes throughout. Three times a day the education leader (GI) will lead the children in contemplation and thought on these themes and the morning/afternoon/evening activities are all founded in the themes of sustainability and caring for the environment, including: sustainable farming and livelihoods, animal and forest conservation, alternative lifestyles, awareness of nature.

DAILY ROUTINE• 6:00 am Wake Up. • 6:00 - 7:00 Free time, bathroom time. • 7:00 - 7:30 Breakfast. • 7:30 - 8:15 Morning briefing led by GI This begins with a short calming meditation session where we settle our minds and clear our thoughts. This is followed by a presentation introducing the themes of

the morning activity, outlining behaviour expectations for the children.

• 8:15 - 8:30 Get ready to leave.

• 8:30 - 11:30 Morning activity.

• 11: 30 - 12:00 Free time, bathroom time

• 12:00 - 12: 30 Lunch

• 12: 30 - 1:00 Afternoon briefing led by GI. Introduction to the afternoon activity. • 1:00 - 4:00 Afternoon activity. • 4:00 - 5:00 Free time, bathroom time. • 5:00 - 5:30 Presentation and reflection led by GI. This session begins with a second short calming meditation session. This is followed by a presentation of how the activities of the day fit into the overall

theme of the camp. Children can present their ideas in a discussion session. • 5: 30 - 6:00 Dinner. • 6:00 - 7:00 Children will be given a choice of independent tasks to complete which they can do in pairs, groups or solo. • 7:00 - 8:00 Evening activity. This begins with children presenting their completed tasks. This session will close with educational entertainment provided by GI. • 8:00 - 8:30 Free time, bathroom time. • 8:30 - 9:00 Children are in bed and watch a theme-related video. • 9:00 Lights out.

DAY 1: Friday 12th February 2015

• Arrival evening. Parents and children are picked up at Chiang Mai airport and taken to Lampang. Some parents will hire cars at Chiang Mai airport.

• Late meal in famous Lampang fish restaurant.• Children and parents stay in Lampang Riverside Guesthouse.

DAY 2 - Saturday 13th February 2015• Morning activity: Children and parents are picked up from hotel. We visit Lampang’s most

famous temple (Lampang Luang) and then go out to the village. Children settle in. Walking tour around our land, the village and nearby rice fields for children and parents. Meet some local people.

Children say goodbye to parents. • Afternoon activity: Trip to local organic farm. Children work picking fruit and vegetables and learn about organic gardening.

• Evening activity: Star watching.

DAY 3 - Sunday 14th February 2015

• Morning activity: Visit to Lampang Elephant Camp. Children watch the elephants bathing (9.45) can ride elephants, watch the elephant show (11.00), visit the elephant hospital.

• Afternoon activity: Visit to local school. Thai/Chinese football tournament

• Evening presentation: Elephant conservation in Thailand

DAY 4 - Monday 15th February 2015

• Morning activity: take the train to Doi Khun Tan National Park. Visit park museum and learn about forest conservation. Talk to forest rangers.

• Afternoon activity: Hike to top of the mountain. Children will see and

read about the different types of tree which are growing at different altitudes as they climb.

• Evening: Stay in cabins at the top of the mountain. Barbecue and camp

fire.

Day 5 - Monday 15th February 2015

• Morning activity: Hike down the mountain via waterfall.

• Afternoon – Train back to Lampang.• Evening activity: Presentation on forestry conservation.

Day 6 - Wednesday 17th February 2015

• Morning activity: Organic gardening.• Afternoon activity: Earthen building• Evening activity: Tradition Thai Fables related to the theme of caring for

the environment.

Day 7 - Thursday 18th February 2015

• Morning activity: Cycling tour of Chiang Mai. Children learn about how cycling is an environmentally friendly alternative to cars and motorcycles.

• Afternoon activity: Visit Chiang Mai’s ecologically-friendly zoo and learn about animal conservation.

• Evening activity: Lampang’s famous horse-drawn carriages are a traditional livelihood for Lampang people.

Day 8 - Friday 19th February 2015

• Morning activity: Visit local woodcarving village – famous village in Thailand. Children can watch expert craftsmen in traditional cottage industries making teak goods. Gift shops.

• Afternoon activity: Visit waterfall in Thai national park. Children

learn about Royal project conservation in Thailand. • Children will climb many steps to get to the waterfall. Swimming in

the waterfall.

• Evening - Children finish preparations for presentations and show for the final evening.

Day 9 - Saturday 20th February 2015

• Morning – Organic gardening in the Ilines garden; learn about composting, how to grow vegetables and raising chickens.

• Afternoon – Parents arrive; swimming for whole family in local outdoor swimming pool.

• Evening – Campfire and barbecue; children perform for the parents.

• Children and parents are taken to Chiang Mai airport.

Booking Details• Price: RMB 6,500 per child (This does not include flights, car hire or the

guest house/evening meal on Day 1)

• Booking must be made by November 12th 2015. Deposit of RMB 2,000 please.

• Children must have comprehensive medical insurance which can be used in Thailand. Details of insurance must be provided.
