We were not the only ones hard at work this year. The bees here at DOI proved their worth with a recent harvest of delicious golden nectar. The hives produced over 7 gallons of honey beyond what they need to get through the winter. The DOI trainees had a great time discovering how to process a raw product into a finished good for sale. There were lots of questions and plenty of hands on time throughout the extraction process. The trainees will learn more about processing raw goods as we begin to add value to the bees wax that came from the extraction process. Once this is complete they will learn how to package, label and maybe even market these products.
