NAKURU EAST PRESBYTERY REPORT
TO THE 22ND
GENERAL ASSEMBLY-APRIL 2018
1. Preamble Nakuru East Presbytery was created from the old Nakuru Presbytery on 2nd Dec 2012. It’s within Nakuru County in the Great Rift Valley, 160km West of Nairobi with its offices being located at P.C.E.A. Neema Church. The Presbytery has eleven Parishes and one outreach comprising of 76 congregations with; 11 Parish Ministers, 8 Retired Ministers, 287 Active Elders, 109 Retired Elders, 11 Evangelists and 14,448 members. It borders 5 Presbyteries that are within Rift Valley Region namely Nakuru West and Laikipia to the North, Nyandarua to the East, Iria – ini to the North East and Aberdare to the South East.
2. Vision To be a caring and creative Presbytery that worships God and empowers the community holistically.
3. Mission Statement A Presbytery that equips and transforms the community through effective evangelism and discipleship.
4. Core Values The Presbytery is guided by the following core values:-

XI. Presbytery prayers
The Presbytery officials met monthly for prayers. The Presbytery held prayers on 1st March 2017 and 5th July 2017. The Presbytery observed 21 days of chain prayer and fasting from 1st July to 23st July 2017 where all Parishes participated.

1. Other evangelism activities
III. T.E.E
Wema Parish has 12 students who graduated with basic diploma in the year under review. There are 5 students who are pursuing basic diploma, 7 pursuing advanced diploma, 4 Diploma in Holistic nurturing of Children, 14 Diploma in guidance and counseling and 10 Children taking TEE Crossover. The Parish has also adopted 10 inmates through the T.E.E adopt an inmate Programme.
Lanet Parish has 20 students taking Holistic Nurturing of students while 8 others are doing T.E.E basic diploma.
Umoja Parish has one group that graduated with basic diploma and another one kicked off.
Jerusalem Parish has a group that is pursuing Diploma in holistic nature of children. Crater Parish has a group of 11 students who were pursuing basic diploma in TEE and
graduated on 12 November 2017.
The Presbytery adopted 10 prison inmates.

Feeding program has been operational in our parishes and well facilitated. We have also endeavored to hold vocational Bible school for our young people and one of our parishes started a teen’s service. There have been teen activities planned out for the holidays like sports, talent shows, and empowerment seminars and teens services in the churches.

12. Projects
Parish Project/Physical Growth Lanet Construction of a Rehab and Counseling Center by the Parish.
Lanet church has water sale and car wash is ongoing. They also Cabro paved all the Church pavement and are in the process of constructing rental shops and public toilets.
Construction of a hospital and washrooms in Jerusalem still on going. Building of a permanent church is ongoing at Ebenezer Church. Baraka Church Dispensary is under construction. Construction of church hall at Macedonia Church hall is underway. Roofing of Church is complete in Mt. Sinai Church and are now doing the
final finishing. Final finishing of a permanent church is ongoing and have purchased of plot
at Damascus. Construction church hall has commenced while the church is in its final
finishes at Emmaus Church. Construction of Church school hall at Emmanuel is in progress Mwangaza Church completed its building and was dedicated. Mt. Zion ECDE classes are ongoing.

classrooms have been completed. Kirathimo church building was completed and dedicated. Emmanuel Church building of ablution block and 2 classrooms was
completed and dedicated. Tabuga Ongoing construction/ expansion of P.C.E.A. Kabatini.
Ongoing construction of P.C.E.A. Umoja Church multipurpose hall and offices.
Construction of a perimeter wall at P.C.E.A. Glory Church. Modernization / renovation of the Minister’s Manse is complete. Purchase of projector and ongoing construction of a kitchen at P.C.E.A.
Wanyororo Church. Renovation of P.C.E.A. Murunyu Church toilet is complete. Daima Resort Center has started with building shelters and perimeter fence
at Kirima Church ground. Bahati Phyllis Muthoni memorial Church repair of roof is ongoing.
Ngwataniro Church perimeter wall is complete. Rehema housing project is ongoing as well as construction of Church school
classes. Upendo Church to purchase musical system and architectural drawings
have been done
Jerusalem Purchase of Parish motor vehicle Completion Health Centre at Kiamunyeki Church. Mwangaza Church construction is complete, perimeter wall and a Nursery
school construction is ongoing.

Completion of multi- purpose hall phase 1 and Construction of an ablution block St. Stephen Church.
Construction of Immanuel Church is ongoing.
Umoja
Repainting of church and putting of side doors and two cyclones at Nyonjoro is complete.
Purchase of 3 new plots through Eneza Sacco ongoing by Nyonjoro Church. Imani new sanctuary is under construction with the roofing currently taking
place. Baraka Church was completed and dedicated they are currently in the
process of expanding the vestry. Upendo Church is in the process of tiling the floor. Parish Woman’s Guild donated Ksh. 20,000.00 to Baraka Church for the
Sanctuary’s doors. The parish has been able to acquire two plots with Eneza Housing.
Wendo Construction of P.C.E.A. Githima Church is in progress Construction of toilets at Ruguru Church in progress. Utugi Church is in the process of constructing a Hall. P.C.E.A. J. Mugo Church is constructing a tank for their maize Farm Project.
Kirathimo P.C.E.A. Maringu and Banita Churches are in the finishing stage. Construction of P.C.E.A. Ruiru and Munyaka Church in progress.
St. Mary’s Rutara church completed fixing of the doors and window frames. Currently working on the floor and walls.
P.C.E.A. ST Mary’s has completed construction of two classes and also renovated the rental house at Ndunduri.
P.C.E.A. Mutundu Church is complete and was dedicated. P.C.E.A. Utugi purchased a new Public address system. P.C.E.A. Jordan purchased new Chairs and a pulpit.
Wema P.C.E.A. Workers construction of a mega Church is in progress. Building of office and ablution block is underway at P.C.E.A. Neema Church. Purchased public address system for praise and worship for P.C.E.A. Neema
Church. Purchased one acre land at Elementaita. Purchased 150 chairs for teen’s service.
Kiptangwanyi Completed construction of Kanorero, Munanda, Oljorai and Mitimingi Churches and were dedicated.
Construction of P.C.E.A. Elementaita, Ndibai and Jerusalem Churches is ongoing.
Presbyterian Guest house –Milele Resort
The project is co-owned by Nakuru East and Nakuru West Presbyteries at 50:50 ratio.
The forced Value of the project is Ksh. 192,000 million. We have been able to Purchase a new bus to improve the touring services. We have a Laundry and a dry cleaner. We have provided employment to a good number of people from
integrated denominations as per the required qualifications. We have a generator worth Ksh. 2 million and drilled a borehole for water
purposes at a cost of Ksh. 1.5 million. We have a stone perimeter wall and electrical fence.

Have installed sensor lights to enhance security. CCTV surveillance in the premises and compound Have a swimming pool and also a baby pool. Have rebranded and upgraded most of our rooms Projecting to add up more rooms, meeting hall with a capacity of 500
persons. Put up cabro blocks in the parking area. Rated as one of the best provider in hospitality industry in Nakuru town PUEA university- Nakuru Campus is run under Milele. Several candidates
have graduated. Milele is In the process of constructing phase 2

14. Presbyterial Groups Woman’s Guild Has a total membership of 2160 women and 21 girls. Attended the Central committee of woman’s Guild national conference. Held a seminar at Wendo Parish on 25 February 2017 and on 26th February 18 women were
dedicated as new members. Held a seminar at Bahati Parish 10 women were given badges. Held a seminar at Kiptangwanyi outreach on 16
th March 2017.
Observed the worlds Prayer day on 3 rd march 2017. Attended the National Prayer for peace at Kasarani Nairobi on 8 th April 2017. Attended the G.A.C. in Nairobi on 18th – to 22nd April 2017. Held a seminar in Ngorika on 5 th April 2017. Observed their week from 29th May 2017 – 4th June 2017.
Youth All Parishes observed their youth week.
Held two kesha’s on 27th January 2917 and 7th April 2017. Organized and participated in school evangelism in P.C.E.A. Tabuga Girls and St. Gabriel Secondary
school. Church School Held 2 full council meetings Held a Presbyterial seminar at Tabuga Church on 4th March 2017 where 141 teachers attended. Attended the National Conference on 12th – 15th April 2017 at Jomo Kenyatta High School in
Bahati parish. Two teachers were promoted to higher glory, that is, Leah Wanjiru- PCEA Tabuga Parish and
David Macharia- Umoja Parish.
Presbyterian Church Men Fellowship (P.C.M.F) Formed a self-help group to empower our men Financially, i.e., “Wanaume tujiunge tujenge” Successfully organized Rite of passage camp for boys and girls Commissioned more members throughout the Parish.
Boys & Girls Brigade Held successful Presbyterial parades during all Presbytery functions Have recruited more officers as well as children have joined the brigade in large numbers. Held a one basic course in the month of April at Dr. Arthur parish where 54NCOs, 63 basic 1 and
27 Basic 11 Officers we in attendance.
Evangelism Held prayers on 18th February 2017 at Neema Church. Held a seminar on 18 th March 2017 at Emmanuel Church, Crater parish Had a 7 days prayer and fasting from 21st to 27th April. Held a Kesha on 28 th April 2017. Held a revival at Bahati – parish. Held 5 meetings
Health Board

Held three meetings Held a visitation at Kiptangwanyi on 21
st May 2017 and sensitized the congregation on health
related diseases. They also held a medical camp on 21
st may 2017 where about 40 members benefited from the
exercise.
Christian Education Held various meetings: 2 Presbyterial and 1 regional meeting Chairman attended the GAC Meeting held in Alliance Girls High School.
JPRC Held civic education training in 4 Parishes Held 3 Presbyterial meetings. Held open air training in collaboration with IEBC immediately after nominations to help cope with
the tension that had arisen due to the outcome of the nominations. The group held two regional meetings. Acted as political observers in the Party primaries held on 26/4/2017.
Held the handing over meeting on 15/7/2017 as a result of termination of all groups.
15. Presbytery Achievements 168 people received Jesus Christ as their personal Saviour in the year under review. Most of the Parishes have embraced mission work especially in Kiptangwanyi Outreach.
We were able to clear our Head office MMF Allocations for all the Parishes before the end of the financial year.
Benchmarking is ongoing in all our parishes Most of our Parishes have computerized their offices/systems Employee motivation through capacity building Construction of Rehab Centre at Lanet Parish which is the 1
st in the P.C.E.A. Church.
Dedication of 4 churches in Kiptangwanyi Outreach within the year. Milele Resort is doing well and has continued to support the Presbytery Financially.
16. Challenges that still exist Financial constraints in some of our Parishes hence they are unable meet their financial
obligations. Lack of an evangelist in Ngorika Parish. Upcoming slams within our presbytery has led to an increase in alcoholism and drug abuse within
the area Long period of drought in 2017. Upcoming business premises within the area and in the process night clubs, bar and pool tables
are mushrooming which affect our youth morally.
Emergence of cultural practices that are in conflict with the church traditions. Increase in Rural – Urban migration in search of jobs by the youth has continued to reduce their
numbers in some of our Churches. Lack of commitment by some leaders and also members has delayed our speedy growth in all
aspects of the Presbytery.
17. Efforts towards solving the above challenges To establish networks with our young people who have moved to urban areas in search of jobs so
that they can help in projects in their mother Churches.

Holding more Seminars and Capacity building workshops to help empower our youth by making them self-employed.
Organising more Seminars for members and leaders to enlighten them on stewardship, commitment among others which in turn raises member’s commitment in tithing.
Teach and discourage our members on bad cultural practices. Organise more Seminars on drugs and substances among our members especially the youth.
Economic empowerment through savings and investment education and joining Sacco’s.
18. Future plans Empowerment of our members through agricultural diversification to counter challenges of low
income as a result of over supplies in the market. Modernization of worship services.
To start in bigger income generating business ventures e.g. real estate business that will be more beneficial to the Church.
Expansion of Milele resort to the 2nd phase which will comprise of additional more rooms, a conference hall and a gym.
Sponsor more inmates through TEE Programme Construction of Presbytery offices. Carry on with the core calling of spreading the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ.
19. Benchmark Implementation We held Benchmark implementation workshops in all our parishes with all the elders to follow up on the level of implementation as follows:

We subsequently drafted a questionnaire which was filled and signed by all parishes thereafter returned to the Presbytery office together with the corresponding evidence. The Presbytery Strategic Plan Implementation Committee then reviewed them and then ranked the Parishes based on the information availed.

21. Conclusion We thank the Almighty God for His grace that has enabled us to come this far. We also thank the office of the General Assembly for the cordial relations the Presbytery has enjoyed in the year under review. In addition, we thank all the Kirk Sessions, group leaders, deacons, employees and the general membership of the Presbytery for their commitment and continued support. The Presbytery remains focused and committed to fulfill the core-mandate of the church and looks forward to a successful year 2018. To God be the glory.
