Marina

It’s full on groovy in our local Haight

district. You will be sure to spot a Haight

dweller a mile away, in their vintage

dresses and gently worn oxfords dating

back to the early 1900’s. You can find a

different drug on every corner and the

best Pear Cider beer your taste buds have

ever experienced. If your destination

is Haight and Ashbury think Kate Moss

and heroin chic. Grab your vintage and

your pipe (If you have one) we don’t

discriminate how you get your fix on.

The young, the fabulous, and the preppy

is what you’ll find in the Marina. Grab

your weekender and you’ll fit in just fine.

For brunch, throw on a loose tee with riding

boots and a blazer while relaxing with the

help of bottomless mimosas in the sun. Go

grab your girls, fluff up the hair and dance

the morning away at a mimosa brunch.

Reservations are at 11 am.

Your best bet is to dress head to toe in black and call it a day. Hipster chic

is the name of the game in this district and you won’t want to be caught dead without your Chucks. The mission is known to be the hot box of the city, so your white tee is a must. If you’re headed to the mission you really don’t need much, it’s a low maintenance ‘hood packed full of fun destinations. The happy hour spots are a bonus. So pack your black and head to the “Mish”, happy hour starts at 4 pm.

INTERVIEW:Sabina JanakovaThe beautiful 19 year old Super model has come a long way since growing up in Slovakia. She tells District FiX how she has still remained “normal” , who her favorite fashion icons are and what are some of her favorite trends this upcoming season.

Page 19: District Fix

INTERVIEW:Sabina Janakova

Ever since she was a little girls she knew she wanted to model. Her parents told her when she turned 12,which was the legal age to model in Hong Kong that she may go. Upon her twelth birthday she was on a plane determined to show the world who she really was and what she was capable of. She

has since remained in Hong Kong and just recently started modeling in the United States. Having already done shoots for Chanel, Gucci, and being the spokes person for Aquascutum she remains the humble girl next door. How does she do it? That’s what we’ve all be wondering.

What was it like moving to a foreign country without any parents at the age of 12!!??- It was quite scary, don’t let me mislead you. I guess I just knew what I wanted. Other girls were playing with dolls, while I was worrying about my wieght, and making sure I kept my body fit.

You are so successful at the young age of 19, how did you get there so fast?- Well I wouldn’t exactly say 7 years is fast, but I do realize and am thankful for how lucky I am. I just worked my butt off, went out and worked as many jobs as I could, no matter who it was for, just trying to get my name out there. It was rough, I won’t lie. I feel like I am so much older than 19, from what I’ve seen and experienced.

Who would you say your fashion icon is?- I would have to say Heidi Klum, NOT just because she is an extremely successful model, but she also has an extremely keen sense of style. I mean some models dress terribly. Just because you’re a model doesn’t mean you’re fashionable.

What are some of your favorite trends for the upcoming S/S 2011 season? - I LOVE the colors! I am such a fan of the blushes, pinks and peaches. I am so happy to see them. They are literally everywhere!

Do you have a favorite designer? Or are you somewhat biased towards certain designers based on who you model for?- Kind of actually (laughs) but for the most part it doesn’t matter. I am a big fan of Prada. Although I wasn’t really a fan of all the crazy prints. I don’t know if I could pull off those excentric banana prints! They are quite bright. ANNA KAMPLING
