Audition to be the next rising star! Operation Rising Star is an individual singing competition. Similar to American Idol and other televised competitions, participants are judged by a panel

of judges and by an audience of peers. Singers will compete each week for the chance to win the local first prize - $500. The winner of the local Army Hawaii Competition moves on to the Army-wide competition for the chance to win the “Ultimate Recording Music Experience”- Record, Mix, and Master a demo with studio professionals. Competition

is open to Active Duty, Reserve, National Guard or military Family members, 18 years of age and older with a valid DoD ID card. To register stop by the Nehelani or download an

Family Bowling Night at the Schofield Bowling Center August 26

Countdown another month of deployment complete on Thursday September 26 at the Schofield Barracks Bowling Center for Family Bowling Night from 6:00 pm to 8:00pm. Enjoy the night out with the family at the Schofield Bowling Center as Blue Star Cards treats you with free shoe rentals and two free games of bowling. Space is limited and registration is required.Deadline to register for this event is Monday September 16.

Bowen School Age CenterSeptember 14

Blue Star Card was a recipient of a generous welfare grant for the Hui O’ Wahine of Fort Shafter to bring Super Saturday Childcare to Blue Star Families. Super Saturdays will be held on September 14 from 9 am – 2 pm at Schofield Bowen School Age Center. Super Saturday’s are open to children of Blue Star Card holders 6 weeks through 12 years of age. Families with soldiers on a combat deployment are eligible starting 30 days prior to deployment and up to 90 days after redeployment. Registration is required and space is limited. Deadline to register for this event is Monday September 2.

Judd Trail & Ginger PoolSeptember 10

Walk off the Wait with Blue Star Card on Tuesday, September 10th , as we hike the Judd Trail and Ginger Pool. The Judd Trail (part of which coincides with the waterfall trail) is named after Dr. Gerrit P. Judd, a US missionary, trusted advisor, and financial manager to Hawaiian monarchs, including King Kamehameha III. Na Ala Hele, a State of Hawai’i program founded in 1988 to maintain trails of historical and ecological value, ensures continued public access to the Judd Trail. This is a great beginner hike and you may take a swim in the Ginger pool. Space is limited and registration is required

Blue Star Card Event No-Show PolicyIf you register for a Blue Star Card event and cannot attend the event, you must cancel your reservation by 12:00 pm (noon) the day before the event. If you fail to cancel your reservation and do not attend, you will be considered a no-show, which will result in you automatically being wait-listed for the next month’s events. It is our goal to include as many Blue Star Card holders as possible in our events, by implementing this policy; we hope to achieve this goal.
