Dear Church Family, It is amazing how quickly the days of summer are passing. As I write this article, school starts in about four weeks. Our youth group is away this week at Lake Yale. I know that it will be life changing for many of them. Please pray for them, that, as God speaks, they might be obedient. We always need leaders in the youth ministry. Would you ask God if He could use you there? In fact, preschool and children’s areas can always use some help. I don’t have to tell you that we live in a “post-Christian” culture. America today is much different from the America of just a few years ago. The morals and values of this nation continue to erode. As we face our culture, what are we to do? Some believe that we can eradicate the problem- preach harder, picket and boycott more, sign petitions, and others will fall in line with the Bible. But, they don’t believe the Bible. Some today are embracing the culture-Some Christians don’t look any different than unbelievers. We must engage the culture-That’s always been the case for Christ followers. In order to engage our culture we need to: 1. Be people of conviction. That means we stand on the principles of God’s word and are obedient to it. 2. Be people of character. That means we do what is right, based on what we believe. 3. Be people of courage. We say “yes” to God and “no” to the world. It is called committed. 4. Be people of compassion. We don’t want to be arrogant or rude, but we want to share Jesus with love. We need to engage culture, believing that there is power in the gospel message and God will use it because He is still in control. Let’s be found faithful in these days! In His love, Bro. Darrol Bro. • Dear Church Family,

It is amazing how quickly the days of summer are passing. As I write this article, school starts in about four weeks. Our youth group is away this week at Lake Yale. I know that it will be life changing for many of them. Please pray for them, that, as God speaks, they might be obedient. We always need leaders in the youth ministry. Would you ask God if He could use you there? In fact, preschool and

childrens areas can always use some help.

I dont have to tell you that we live in a post-Christian culture. America today is much different from the America of just a few years ago. The morals and values

of this nation continue to erode. As we face our culture, what are we to do?

Some believe that we can eradicate the problem- preach harder, picket and boycott more, sign petitions, and others will fall in line with the Bible. But, they dont believe the Bible.

Some today are embracing the culture-Some Christians dont look any different than unbelievers.

We must engage the culture-Thats always been the case for Christ followers.

In order to engage our culture we need to:

    1. Be people of conviction. That means we stand on the principles of Gods word and are obedient to it.

    2. Be people of character. That means we do what is right, based on what we believe.

    3. Be people of courage. We say yes to God and no to the world. It is called committed.

    4. Be people of compassion. We dont want to be arrogant or rude, but we want to share Jesus with love.

We need to engage culture, believing that there is power in the gospel message

and God will use it because He is still in control.

Lets be found faithful in these days!

    In His love,

    Bro. DarrolBro. DarrolBro. DarrolBro. Darrol

Offering Namesake: John and Clyde Maguire

When John Maguire first arrived as the sixth executive secretary-treasurer of the Florida Baptist Convention, he

began referring to the state as Favored Florida. And under his leadership, Florida Baptist found favor with God

by developing a Great Commission attitude.

He urged Florida Baptists to take Jesus into their neighborhoods by starting new churches and ministries to

migrants, farm workers, winter tourists, Indians and African-Americans.

His wife, Clyde Maguire, a historian, prayer warrior and author, also served mission causes among Florida

Baptists, mentoring and motivating women to embrace the power of prayer.

Under John Maguires leadership Florida Baptists experienced unparalleled growth. During his 23-year tenure

from 1945-1967, between 30 and 40 new churches were established each year. The number of cooperating

churches in the convention increased to 1,426 from 826. Church membership grew to more than 600,000 from

184,140 and Cooperative Program giving increased to $3.7 million from $422,123.

When Maguire assumed his leadership post, one-fourth of the 826 Florida Baptist churches gave nothing to any

mission causes. Before he retired, every church was giving something to missions.

Focus: Chr ist Jesus has called Flor ida Baptists to His movement, to reach every segment of society and

every corner in the state; every man, woman, boy and girl, with the Gospel message.

His Grace UNIMAGINABLE can heal the brokenness in the state where an estimated 75% or 15 million of the

population do not know Him. You are joining the movement by doing good and pleasing God with your

sacrificial gifts to the Maguire State Mission Offering.

    State Goal: $1,197,000

    Scripture Reference:

Do not neglect to do good and to

share what you have, for such

    sacrifices are pleasing to God.

    Hebrews 13:16 NRSV

Vacation Bible School has ended for another year. I was thankful to be there each day and witness God at

work in the lives of children and adults. I appreciate those that served in different areas. There were 180

enrolled, including leaders. I have personally sent many cards, e-mails and have made a few visits. Please let

the Pastor or myself know if you would be willing to assist us in this area of outreach.

As exciting and busy as the summer months are, fall is approaching and School will be resuming. We are once

again collecting school supplies and purchasing uniform shirts for needy children. Here are some of the

    Dear Church Family,

As I am writing this, we are soon to be on our way to Super Summer Camp 2015. I know that God is going to do wonders in the lives of students this week, so we will thank Him in advance for the harvest he will provide. Thank you again to all of you who have made it possible to come this far with so many students! Hopefully, by the time you read these words, we will be safely back in Frostproof with some good news to share about our stay!

As the summer comes to an end, we are planning many things to keep up this remarkable momentum. The students go back to school August 24th; that means it is almost time for MOBILIZE 2015. This is the annual back-to-school rally we have had for the past 7 years here at First Baptist. We are revamping this years event to better reach students in the school, as well as to receive better support from our community.

This years events will be held on Friday and Saturday, September 18-19. We have been given a unique privilege to spearhead our efforts with FMSHSs FCA Department and do an event directly after a varsity home football game! We will use Fr iday to present the gospel to the audience and to push the main event the next day! I am very excited to see how this new dynamic will affect our event, but even more so to see how God shows up!

Please be in prayer about how you can help. We need adults who can help us with registration, food preparation & service, recreation supervision, altar supply, set-up and take-down, and general observation of church grounds.

Most of all, stay in prayer for our younger generation. The start of a new school year means the start of new trials and temptations. Pray that our students receive discernment, guidance, and courage in the face of their struggle against contemporary culture.

    Keep fishing,

    Bro. Brian
