Whāia te Ao Mārama• Five hui were held in Auckland, Hamilton,

Palmerston North, New Plymouth and Dunedin in August and September. These were attended by over 410 participants including:• Māori providers• Mainstream providers and • Māori consumers

• The purpose was to re-engage stakeholders with the Māori Disability Action Plan and gain feedback around service gaps, issues, needs, consumer perceptions and proposed solutions

• The workshop questions reflected the four priorities in the Māori Disability Action Plan• How will you improve outcomes for Māori disabled?• How will you better support whānau?• How will you build good partnerships with Māori?• How will you build responsive disability services with

Māori?

• Māori-specific services and solutions• Māori consumer-led approaches• Culturally responsive services

Service Specifications Review• DSS has 57 Service Specifications• These will be reviewed and combined where

appropriate over the next year• A working group will be established to review each

Service Specification and develop performance measures

• Each working group will include representatives of:• Service users• Providers • Family members (where appropriate)

Service Specifications Review• Each provider will receive the revised draft

Service Specification for comment prior to its being finalised

• Where possible revised Service Specs will be rolled out alongside contract price variations if/when these occur

• Contractors will be appointed to assist MOH with this work
