VAN SERVICES In cooperation with the Erie County Department of Senior Services, the Town operates five (5) vans to pick up Senior Citizens, age 60+ (who cannot use any conventional means of transportation) at their home and take them to the doctor, food shopping, and other necessary services. This is a curb to curb service. Residents requiring assistance getting in/out of their home or the van should bring a friend or family member along to assist them. The suggested donation for a one-way trip is $3 and $8 one way for the wheelchair van, but the donation is confidential and each person determines what he or she can pay. The vans run five days a week from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm. Please try to make your appointments early in the day, allowing plenty of time for your return home. Van reservations for MEDICAL APPOINTMENTS can be made a minimum of 24 hours and a maximum of two weeks in advance (the sooner the better). All OTHER APPOINTMENTS (shopping, banking, etc.) can be made a minimum of 24 hours and a maximum of one week in advance. Appointments will be scheduled on a space availability basis—medical being the priority. For the health & safety of other passengers and our drivers, we do not transport residents to the Laundromat with dirty laundry. WHEN GROCERY SHOPPING, EACH RIDER IS LIMITED TO 4 BAGS. Van drivers can help unload the bags but are not permitted to enter the rider’s home.

PHONE NUMBER—858-RIDE (858-7433) WEEKDAYS, 8:30 AM—4:20 PM TO MAKE A RESERVATION.

DIRECTOR’S CORNER Dear Friends, As the weather gets nicer, we are seeing more people coming back to our senior center. We know everyone is more anxious than ever to have things back the way they were before the pandemic but we aren’t quite there yet. For at least this month, we will continue with our original safety plan guidelines and we appreciate your patience as we work towards a more open door policy at our Center. We know many of you have been anxious to get back to enjoying our Stay Fit Dining Program and look forward to eating lunch INSIDE the Center. Starting Tuesday, April 6th, we are happy to report that we are welcoming you back. This means that three out of our four lunch site locations are offering both the IN-HOUSE dining option AND the frozen meal option. The best news is that you can take advantage of both options if you want to come for lunch and order some frozen meals for weekend lunches or even dinners. We just ask that you respect the deadlines for reservations that have been set. Because our frozen meal program at our Senior Center is so popular, we are starting off our IN-HOUSE DINING by only offering lunch at our Center four days per week—Tuesday through Friday. Mondays will be just the pick-up day for the frozen meals and no lunches will be served at the Center. We will continue to evaluate this decision and make changes as we see fit. WEARING MASKS AT ALL TIMES WHILE VISITING OUR CENTER WILL CONTINUE TO BE A GUIDELINE THAT IS NOT NEGOTIABLE. Out of respect for each other and to be as safe as we can, please continue to wear your mask and follow the 6-foot social distancing and hand washing protocols that we are all experts at by now. Knowing that masks aren’t going away anytime soon, TAKE A LOOK AT THE INFORMATION ABOUT THE MASKS & SNAP-ON LANYARDS that we are selling in our office for just $3 for the set. Not only can you show off your Senior Center pride, but you can keep your mask cleaner by not having to set it down anyplace and wonder where you put it. We are very grateful to our Senior Foundation for offsetting the cost of the masks & lanyards through a grant they received from Partnership for the Public Good so we can sell them to all of you at such a reasonable price. We look forward to seeing more of you at the Center and appreciate all your patience and cooperation! Spring has sprung—let’s make the best of every day. Stay Well & Be Kind, Kerry Peek

FROZEN MEAL PROGRAM As a healthy alternative or a compliment to our Stay Fit Dining Con-gregate Lunch Program , we have partnered with Erie County Senior Services to offer this FROZEN MEAL OPTION. Even if you never participated in our lunch program before, you can register and begin receiving frozen meals. You just have to be able to come and pick up your meals. Frozen meals will be available for pick-up at ALL FOUR of our dining sites EACH MONDAY. Milk and desser t will be included with each meal. Just like the Stay Fit Dining Program, the suggested contribution is $3 PER MEAL but no one will be turned away for the lack of ability to pay. Your contr ibution will be collected when you pick up your meals. Cash or checks made out to Erie County Stay Fit Dining. You can also use your SNAP benefit to make your contri-bution. There is a 3 meal per week OR a 5 meal per week option. You can pick which option works best for you each week. You can order a combination of meal packs, up to (2) 5 Packs if you wish (a maximum total of 10 meals). You do not have to order meals every week. You do NOT get to select your individual entrees at this time—but we do get a monthly “menu” that tells you what meals will be includ-ed each week. Entrées include items that have been tested and freeze well. Weekly frozen meal reservations must be called in by 11:00 am on the Wednesday of the week before. Here are the loca-tions & contact information:
