PROPULSION MODES The yacht Vanadis is driven by a hybrid propulsion system which includes both traditional diesel engines and e-motors supplied by generators or batteries, ensuring low consumption and limited environmental impact. The battery system supplies energy for most onboard utilities, allowing to anchor at zero emissions for up to 15 consecutive hours and to cruise at limited speed for up to 180 minutes. DIESEL MODE ( TRADITIONAL ) During this mode the main propulsion is granted by traditional diesel engines CAT C9.3 One variable speed genset CAT C4.4 produces the required power for onboard services and hotel loads. The e-motor can run freely on the shaftline without voltage on the terminal. Top Speed: 13 kn -> Range: 2100 nm Cruising Speed: 10 Kn -> Range: 4000 nm DIESEL - SHAFT GENERATION The gensets CAT C4.4 can be switched off and the shaft line E-motor can be used as a power generator for hotel loads or Lithium - ion batteries pack re-charge. Speed: 10 kn -> range: 4200 nm DIESEL - ELECTRIC MODE Two variable speed gensets C4.4 produce the necessary electrical power for propulsion, onboard services and hotel loads. When there is an excess of energy, this is conveyed to recharge the Lithium-ion batteries pack. The 2 variables speed gen-sets are composed by diesel engine prime mover CAT C4.4. and permanent-magnet three phase synchronous generator type by Siemens, jacket watercooled. The genset adapt the diesel speed and the load to the power requested. The speed control will take into account the optimal working point of the diesel engine in terms of efficiency and specific fuel consumption. The frequency converter will convert the AC generated power to DC power to be exchanged into the DC Bus Bar 700V switchboards. (with one generator) Speed 6 kn -> Range: 7000 nm (with two generators) Speed 8 kn -> Range 5400 nm FULL ELECTRIC MODE The variable speed gensets are OFF. Main diesel engines are OFF. Propulsion and essential services are powered by Lithium - ion battery pack (175 kWh) for a ZERO EMISSION propulsion, allowing to cruise at limited speed for up to 180 minutes, depending on the power load. Speed 5 kn -> 180 minutes NIGHT MODE Night mode with zero emission: the variable speed gensets are OFF. Main diesel engines are OFF. Essential services and hotel loads are granted by Lithium - ion battery pack (by AKASOL with 5 scalable modules for a total of 175kWh) for the maximum comfort in terms of noise and vibrations. This configuration allows to anchor at zero emissions for up to 15 consecutive hours. DP MODE The yacht is fitted with a Dynamic Positioning System that can be activated in Diesel-Electric mode: Automatic & manual positioning and heading control engineered by XENTA, interfacing Shottel STP units and Bow Thruster unit. Ship’s movements are controlled via joystick. QUAYSIDE MODE At the quay, a shore power and frequency converter ensures the power supply of essential services and hotel loads.

DIESEL PROPULSIONThe marine propulsion diesel engines are two x Caterpillar C9.3 - (Rating B) - 280 kW (375 Hp) at

1.800 rpm, four stroke 6 cylinders in line Diesel engines,

turbocharged and aftercooled;An electromagnetic clutch is coupled to the flywheel of the Diesel engine. This clutch is dry running and it is open in powerless.Power transmission with two flexible shaft line, hollow steel tube;

SCHOTTEL STP 150Shaftline is completed by n°2 rudder propeller with two propellers SCHOTTEL STP 150. The

STP is equipped with a pull propeller and a push propeller.

Their relative arrangement is such that the vortex of the front pull propeller passes between the blades of the rear push propeller without impeding it. Contraction of the slip stream in the pull propeller means that more water reaches the push propeller from the sides, which further enhances the performance. Moreover the strut is hydrodynamically optimized and provided with a fin arrangement. The swirl energy generated in the propeller stream is thus recovered, leading to an increase in efficiency.

GENSETTwo 90ekW Diesel gensets Cat C4.4 & SIEMENS e-motor with variable speed and frequency, in

order to adapt the diesel speed according to required

power load. The speed control will take into account the optimal working point of the diesel engine in terms of efficiency and specific fuel consumption. The frequency converter of SIEMENS will convert the AC generated power to DC power to be exchanged into the DC BUS Bar switchboard.

SHORE POWER CONVERTERFrequency converters for the power supply of the ship services/hotel (400VAC,

50Hz). Active filtering will be also included in order to fulfill

the requirements in terms of line voltage harmonics. Shore power converter 50kVA/ 40kW for supply the ship services with a wide range of voltage and frequencies

BATTERY PACKBattery pack (n°5 modules by AKASOL 35 kWh each, liquid cooled: tot. 175 kWh installed) with DC-DC

converter charge batteries and BMS (Battery Management

System), intended as silent, zero-noise and zero-emission power supply.

DPSDynamic Positioning System by XENTA, also for manouvering operations

STABILIZER FINSN°2 CMC Stabilis Electra SE60, stabilizing system with electric actuator fins underway and zerospeed

E-POWEREach drive-shaft line is equipped with a 55kW Asynchronous e-motor/generator interposed

between the propulsion marine diesel engine and the

Schottel Twin Propeller STP150. E-motors are liquid cooled.

DC BUS BAR SWITCHBOARD DC BUS Bar switchboard 500/750VDC engineered by

SIEMENS, in E.R. , equipped with a safety tie-break aimed

to give the maximum availability of the system, even if this will be at reduced power/performances.
