Diego Fasolis is known worldwide as one of the reference interpreters for historically informed music. His versatility and virtuosity are combined with a rigorous style which is highly appreciated by the public and by international critics, who follow him throughout the most important European and American festivals as well as via global radio, television and discographic recordings which have been celebrated with the most coveted awards of the specialized press (more than 120 released by major international record companies such as EMI-Virgin, Naïve, Universal Music and Warner Classic). He studied in Zurich, Paris and Cremona obtaining four diplomas with distinction. He began his career in the 80s as a concert organist, performing in hundreds of concerts and

regularly executing the complete works of Bach, Buxtehude, Mozart, Mendelssohn, Franck and Liszt. He then went on to become a music director. It is in this capacity that he was appointed in 1993 as Chief conductor of the vocal and instrumental ensembles of Swiss Radio and Television. In 1998 he began conducting "The Barocchisti", a baroque orchestra with period instruments, which he founded with his wife Adriana Fasolis-Brambilla. After her premature death in 2013 he established a charitable foundation in her name to support young musicians. He also works as a guest teacher with leading groups and singers internationally. Since 2011 he has been working with the acclaimed mezzo-soprano Cecilia Bartoli in world-famous projects, audio and video recordings and major tour concerts the last of which was dedicated to Italian and German authors present in the St. Petersburg archives. In the coming years they will be working together on Bellini’s “Norma”, and Rossini’s "Cenerentola", "Le Comte Ory", "La Donna del Lago". In 2011, Pope Benedict XVI awarded him an Honorary Doctorate of Sacred Music. For his commitment to the rediscovery of operatic repertoire, he has received numerous prizes among them many Disco d’Oro, the Grand Prix du Disque for his work on Handel and Vivaldi and an Echo Klassic for the opera “Artaserse” by Leonardo Vinci. In 2014 he was nominated for two Grammy Awards for his work and for the triumphant “Mission” project with included works by Agostino Steffani and in 2015 for the St. Petersburg project. Since 2013 he is a regular guest at the Salzburg Festival where he takes part in concerts and opera projects. In 2016 La Scala entrusted him with the creation of an orchestra on period instruments (Handel's Il Trionfo del tempo e del Disinganno and Tamerlano with Placido Domingo in 2017). In 2016 following in Nicholaus Harnoncourt footsteps, he has performed Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony three times at the Vienna Musikverein with the Concentus Musicus Wien and the A. Schoenberg Choir. Diego Fasolis è oggi riconosciuto nel mondo come uno degli interpreti di riferimento per la musica storicamente informata. Egli unisce alla versatilità e al virtuosismo un rigore stilistico apprezzato dal pubblico e dalla critica internazionali che lo seguono nei maggiori festival europei ed americani oltre che tramite registrazioni radiofoniche, televisive e discografiche diffuse a livello globale ed insignite dei più ambiti riconoscimenti della stampa specializzata (più di 120 produzioni edite dalle maggiori case discografiche internazionali da EMI-Virgin a Naïve e oggi principalmente con Universal Music e Warner Classic). Ha studiato a Zurigo, Parigi e Cremona conseguendo quattro diplomi con distinzione. Iniziata la carriera negli anni ’80 come concertista d’organo con centinaia di concerti e

l’esecuzione regolare delle opere integrali di Bach, Buxtehude, Mozart, Mendelssohn, Franck e Liszt ha proseguito l’attività come direttore musicale. In tale veste è stato nominato nel 1993 Direttore stabile dei complessi vocali e strumentali della Radiotelevisione svizzera e dal 1998 de "I Barocchisti", orchestra barocca con strumenti storici da lui fondata con la consorte Adriana Fasolis-Brambilla prematuramente scomparsa a cui ha dedicato nel 2013 una Fondazione benefica per il sostegno di giovani musicisti. Ha rapporti di collaborazione come maestro ospite con complessi di primo piano internazionale e con le voci più importanti del panorama internazionale. Dal 2011 collabora strettamente con il grande Mezzosoprano Cecilia Bartoli in progetti di rinomanza mondiale, registrazioni audio e video ed importanti tour concertistici l’ultimo dedicato ad autori italiani e tedeschi presenti negli archivi di San Pietroburgo. Con la Bartoli esguirà nei prossimi anni “Norma” di Bellini, “Cenerentola”, “Le Compte Ory” e “Donna del Lago” di Rossini. Nel 2011 Papa Benedetto XVI gli ha conferito un Dottorato honoris causa per la Musica Sacra. Per il suo impegno nella riscoperta del repertorio operistico ha ricevuto numerosi dischi d’oro e Grand Prix du Disque per opere di Händel e Vivaldi e nel 2013 un Echo Klassic per Artaserse di Leonardo Vinci. Nel 2014 due “Nomination” ai Grammy Aword per quest’opera e per il trionfale progetto Mission con opere di Agostino Steffani e nel 2015 per il progetto St.Petersburg.

Dal 2013 è regolarmente presente al Festival di Salisburgo con grandi progetti concertistici ed operistici. La Scala gli affida per il 2016 la creazione di un’orchestra con strumenti originali (Trionfo del Tempo del Disinganno nel 2016 e Tamerlano di Händel con Placido Domingo nel 2017). Nel 2016 raccoglie l’eredità di Nicholaus Harnoncourt eseguendo tre volte la Nona sinfonia di Beethoven al Musikverein di Vienna con Concentus Musicus Wien e A. Schoenberg Choir. FRANCAIS

Ses talents multiples et sa virtuosité s'associent à une grande rigueur de style et d' interprétation. Il est très apprécié de la critique et du grand public international qui le suivent lorsqu'il se produit dans les principaux festivals européens et américains, ou grâce aux enregistrements radiophoniques, télévisuels et discographiques (plus de 120 productions pour les labels Decca, EMI-Virgin, Sony-BMG, Naïve, Arts, Naxos, Chandos, BBC, Amadeus, Claves, Divox) qui ont reçu de nombreuses distinctions de la presse spécialisée. Diplômé avec mentions spéciales, Diego Fasolis a étudié à Zurich, Paris et Crémone. C’est dans les année 80 qu’il débute sa carrière comme concertiste d’orgue avec une

centaine de concerts et l’interprétation de l’intégrale de l’oeuvre de Bach, Buxtehude, Mozart, Mendelssohn, Frank et Liszt avant d’initier sa carrière comme directeur musicale. Il est nommé en 1993, chef titulaire des ensembles vocaux et instrumentaux de la RSI ; puis à partir de 1998 de « I Barocchisti », orchestre dédié au répertoire baroque sur instruments d' époque qu’il fonde avec Adriana Fasolis-Brambilla disparue prématurément et à qui il dédie en 2013 une fondation pour soutenir de jeunes musiciens. Il collabore avec des chefs invités de renommée internationale et avec les voix les plus importantes du panorama mondial. Depuis 2011 il collabore étroitement avec la grande mezzosoprano Cecilia Bartoli avec des projets de réputation mondiale : enregistrements, et importantes tournée de concert dont la dernière était dédiée à des auteurs italiens et allemands retrouvés dans les archives de Saint Petersbourg. Prochainement poursuivrons ensemble avec Norma de Bellini, Cenerentola, Le Comte Ory, et LA Donna de Lago de Rossini. En 2011 le Pape Benoît XVI lui ha accordé un Dottorato honoris causa pour la Musique sacrée. Pour son travail sur la redécouverte d’œuvre du répertoire opératique, Il a reçu de nombreux disques d’or et Grand Prix du disque avec des opéra de Handel et Vivaldi. En 2013 il est récompensé d’un Echo Klassic pour Artaserse de Leonardo Vinci pour lequel il est également nominé aux Grammy Award en 2014, ainsi que pour le projet triomphale Mission avec des œuvres de Agostini Steffani avant le projet St Petersbourg aussi nominé aux Grammy Award l’année suivante. Depuis 2013, il est régulièrement présent au Festival de Salzburg avec de grands projets symphonique et opératiques. La Scala lui confie en 2016 la création d’un orchestra sur instruments originaux avec lequel il donne, cette même année, Il Trionfo del tempo e del Disinganno puis en Tamerlano de Händel avec Placido Domingo2017. En 2016 il recueille l’héritage de Nicholaus Harnoncourt en exécutant la 9ème symphonie de Beethoven au Musikverein de Vienne avec Concentus Musicus Vienne et A. Schoenberg Choir.
