Road here on Oct. 6. The Chairperson, SSWB, Dr. Poonam Arora visited the Family Counseling Centre run by Yuvasakthi, aided by the Board and also participated in the camp and interacted with Gandhi Jayanti Week by SSWB concludes with awareness camp the Self-Help-Group formed by the N.G.O. and enquired about their activities. The Chairperson also highlighted the programmes of Social Welfare Board and assured required support to NGOs for women empowerment. As many as 70 Self-Help- Group attended the programme. She also evinced interest in handicraft items being prepared by the SHGs and appreciated their activities. Ms. Marsehala Dung Dung, Ms. K. NIDM to conduct national level painting competition for children Risk Management begins at home/school. The aim of the painting competition is to make the children aware of the need for Disaster Risk Reduction and at the same to involve their parents and society. The Painting competition will be conducted through National Institute of Disaster Management (NIDM). The entries are invited from schools (recognised by CBSE/ ICSE/State Boards) in India by the SDMAs in all the States. It will be held for one category- children aged between 10-14 years across the country. Upto 3 entries from each State/ UTs could be entertained for representation at national level. The winners at the National level will be awarded cash prizes, certificate of recognition and a memento/medal. The paintings made in the (Contd. on last page) Port Blair, Oct. 9 The Asian Ministerial Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction, which is an established regional mechanism for disaster risk reduction, will be organising a National level Painting Competition for the children. The competition will be conducted on Nov 3rd, 2016 on the theme which could either be: 1) Disaster Vs Collective Strength or 2) Disaster national level competition may be documented in the form of Calendar exhibited in Exhibition Area and distributed to the delegates and the SDMAs. The competition is open to all students aged between 10-14 years. All eligible students will be allowed to submit only one painting. The participant must mention name, age(Date/Month/ Port Blair, Oct. 9 The Directorate of Social Welfare is implementing the National Family Benefit Scheme (NFBS) under the National Social Assistance Programme(NSAP). In this scheme an amount of Rs.20000/- will be given as a lump sum assistance to National family benefit scheme being implemented by Directorate of Social Welfare the bereaved household in the event of death of the bread-winner. It is clarified that any event of death (natural or otherwise) would make the family eligible for assistance. A woman in the family, who is a home maker, is also considered as a 'bread- winner' for this purpose. The family benefit will be paid to such surviving member of the household of the deceased poor, who after local inquiry, is found to be the head of the household. Washington, Oct 9 IMF and the World Bank in their latest forecast have projected India's growth rate at 7.6 percent in the next two years, making it the world's fastest growing emerging economy, Union Finance Minister Shri Arun Jaitley said while talking to Indian reporters at a news conference in Washington. Shri Jaitley is in the US leading a high-power India at world's centre stage but can do better: Finance Minister Indian delegation to the annual meeting of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank. Shri Jaitley said India is at the world's centre stage more than ever before for aspiring to do better in an adverse environment. Addressing a press conference in New Delhi recently, Tourism and Culture Minister Dr Mahesh Sharma said, advisory has been issued Centre declares Historical monuments, Archaeological Sites as Polythene Free Zones to all the States to assist ASI in keeping monuments Polythene Free up to 300 meters from the protected boundaries. He also informed that the government has sanctioned 350 crore rupees to provide facilities like toilets and disabled friendly access at the Monuments. He said, Swachh Bharat Mission played a big role in improving global perception of India. The only tri-service operational Command of the Indian Armed Forces, commemorated its raising, by conducting several events over three days. The Commander-in-Chief Andaman and Nicobar Command, Vice Admiral Bimal Verma, AVSM, reviewed the parade at INS UTKROSH and awarded Unit Citations to five Units for their outstanding performance in the last one year. In his address, the CINCAN congratulated all the components for the synergy displayed in operations and training, optimum utilisation of resources and achievement of desired operational efficiency. He commended all ranks for flawless conduct of ANC Celebrates 16th Raising Day; CINCAN reviews parade bilateral exercises with the littorals and jointness in operations, resulting in reduction in poaching activities, rescue of 47 civilians from the sea in the last one year, and successful conduct of Disaster Management Exercise. CBSE to discontinue practice of re-evaluation of answer sheets from 2017 New Delhi, Oct 9 Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has decided to discontinue the provision of re-evaluation of answer sheets from next year. CBSE Chairperson Shri RK Chaturvedi said, there are often reports of violation against schools and there is a view that the Board needs more teeth to enforce the by-laws. Officials of the Board told media in New Delhi that since 2014, re-evaluation of answer sheets was done in around 10 subjects for class XII examinations. However, the actual number of students who applied for re-evaluation was only around 1.8 per cent and the number of beneficiaries even less. The officials said, some system will still be in place for redress of genuine cases. They added that soon students will be able to get digital copies of their certificates. The officials said, records of various schools are also being digitised and they have been asked to put data related to them on their websites. The officials also said, they are planning to hold online examinations for the next Central Teachers Eligibility Test. The Medical College namely ‘Andaman and Nicobar Islands Institute of Medical Services (ANIIMS)’ was established during the academic year 2015-16 with an intake of 100 students per year by upgrading the District Hospital at Port Blair and by creating temporary infrastructures to comply with MCI guidelines and affiliated to the Pondicherry University. The civil works relating to construction of buildings required for the Medical College have also started on the land allotted by the A&N Administration with a view to establish a full-fledged Medical College and supporting Institutions in the Islands in line with MCI guidelines. The Consultant, proposed to be engaged, is required not only to assist the Director/Dean for the smooth functioning of the Medical College including timely renewal of permissions and/or other clearances from Medical Council of India, University and other Statutory bodies but also render expert opinion/guidance for creating the required infrastructure at the new Medical College premises. In this connection, all concerned, Puja Committees & Idol makers are hereby requested to comply the following guidelines. -Idols should be made from the natural material as described in the holy script preferably traditional clay, backed clay; Plaster of Paris should not be used for making Idols. -Idols are to be painted with water soluble and non-toxic natural dyes. Use of toxic & non-biodegradable chemical dyes for painting is strictly prohibited. -Worship materials like flowers, vastra (cloth) and decorating material (made of paper & plastic) should be removed before Idol Immersion. Biodegradable materials should be collected separately for recycling or compositing. Non-biodegradable materials should be collected separately for disposal in sanitary landfills. Clothes may be sent to local orphan house(s). -Burning of solid waste comprising of used flowers, clothes, decorating materials etc. is prohibited at the immersion site. -Idol immersion should be done between low tide lines (irrespective of its depth) in all identified places with permission of District Administration only.
