Mon: Familiarization• Prayerfully, reflectively, read 1 Peter in its
entirety (we will do this each Monday).
• Pick a passage in the book and pray through it
for people at Zion.
Tues: Observation• Slowly read 1 Peter 2.11-25 several times. Notice
as much as you can about it as time permits;
nothing is too small or too obvious to write down.
• Pray this passage for the leaders at Zion.
Wed: Organization
• Read 1 Peter 2.11-25 once.
• Jot some notes on its structure; how is this
passage arranged/organized? Keep in mind that
it’s at a transition point in the book.
• Pray through the passage, this time for yourself
and those immediately around you.

your life align (or need to align) with this
compressed thesis of the book?
• Pray for folks in AFC1 to stay away from
destructive sins and have honorable conduct
among each other, in Lincoln and nations.
Fri: More Investigation• Read 1 Peter 2.11-25 once.
• Write some notes answering the questions:
2.13-20: These are the first two “real life”
examples of 1 Peter’s theology. What elements
particularly capture your attention?
2.21-25: This appears to be a poem or at least
poetic. Using the class handout that lines it as a
poem, read each line slowly, ponder it, and write
a comment or two on it.
• Pray for the way we as Zion can exemplify the
message of this passage to Lincoln and in the world.

• Sum up your devotional week by writing a
sentence or two about this passage’s message, as
though you were explaining it to someone.
• Pray through the passage, asking for the Holy
Spirit’s help in where and how to obey it.
