This Technical Publication has been revised to include Coupling Sets 1 and 2. This Technical Publication describes enhancements to minimize E020-020X, E020-0081, E020-101X error codes. Note: Please refer to TP N08-040 for more technical information on E020 error codes. DETAILS Two types of enhancements have been made to address E020-020X, E020-0081, E020-101X error codes. 1. The first addresses E020-020X due to breakage of the coupling (Developer coupling FC8-4338-000) of

the developing assembly (Y/M/C/Bk). There were two different types of modifications that were instituted. [1] Original style; the two ribs were to ensure a tight fit on the D shaft. [2], first modification, The D shaft was filled in solid to decrease further breakage. [3] second modification, a Parallel Pin, XD9-0289-000, was placed to safeguard the Developer coupling, new part number FC0-3696-000, from spinning off of the shaft. FC0-3696-000 is now replacing FC8-4338-000, it will fit on any developer housing because they all have a hole in the shaft on the developer drive shaft so the parallel pin could be inserted.

In addition to strengthening and reinforcing the Developer coupling, service parts were made available so the technician could order parts of the Developer Drum Drive Assembly, FM3-5976-000. By implementing these parts, the amount of time resolving this issue was significantly reduced and the parts cost were lowered as well. Item [4] below shows where the claw breaks that causes this issue. These parts are easily replaced by gaining access from the front of the machine; removal of the drum drawer and the ITB assembly is necessary.

2. The second addresses E020-0081 / E020-010X due to breakage of the Patch Shutter Drive Assembly [1], FM3-8902-000. The linkage member of the Shutter drive assembly [2] may touch the machine front plate [3] during repeated opening and closing operations of the shutter. This will cause wear over a period of time, causing the Patch Shutter Drive Assembly to break. To prevent this from happening a Stopper Sheet [4], FC0-3736-000, has been added to reduce the stress on the Patch Shutter Drive Assembly, FM3-8902-000.

SERVICING Affix the Stopper Sheet [4] in the areas of [C] and [D]. There are two different sizes of areas [C] and [D]. [A] is old type [B] is the new type. This Stopper Sheet is used for the two different types. For the complete procedure, see the attached file, attaching_stopper_sheet.pdf.
