Eligibility Requirements
A Veteran is anyone who serve at least one day in the armed forces and was not dishonorably discharged)An eligible spouse is a spouse of:1) Any veteran who died of a service-connected disability; 2) Any member of the active duty Armed Forces who, for a total of more than 90 days, is: (i) Missing in action; (ii)captured in line of duty by a hostile force; or (iii) forcibly detained or interned in line of duty by a foreign government or power.3) Any veteran who has a total disability resulting from a service connecteddisability, as evaluated by the Department of Veterans Affairs; or who died while such a disability, was in existence
Eligible Programs
Programs with eligibility requirements and DOL funding include:
•WIA (WorkForce Investment Act)•DW (Dislocated Worker)•DVOP (Disabled Veteran Outreach Program)•LVER (Local Veteran Employment Representative)
Priority of Service vs Preferential ServiceGiven all thing being equal for all customers, Priority of Service does not secure bumping rights, but will provide services earlier than other applicants waiting for
the same assistance. If two customers sign up at the same time, the Veteran is given priority. If the Veteran signs up later than another applicant, s/he cannot
bump the applicant that is already enrolled.
Standard Services
Standard Services include all free services available in the Menu of Services. These include but are not limited to:•Assessment•Skill development•Labor Market Information•Free training opportunities•Job search and placement•Office resources: computer, fax, phone•Community resource and referral•Link to Veterans to support programs•Info on how to file for unemployment insurance
