Theme Research into different types of man-made boards.
Task You are to research information about man-made boards. You will need to find out how the man-made boards are manufactured and what products they are used in. This information should be completed on the relevant labelled pages which follow. These man-made boards are MDF, plywood and chipboard.
Grading Criteria Level 4: Research all materials and provide a brief description of how they are made. Give an example of usage for each material. Level 5: Research all materials and provide a description of how each is made. Give two examples of uses of each material. Must be presented to a very good standard. Level 6: Research all materials and provide a detailed description of how each is manufactured and examples of how the three products are each used. It must be presented to an excellent standard.

Theme Materials survey.
Task Your task is to carry out a survey of the materials that furniture and other items are made of in your home. You can use what you have learned in task number two to help you. TASK 3A) You need to complete a survey; include details such as item names, materials they are made out of, what they are used for. Summarize your findings at the end of the survey stating the most common materials and why you think these are more popular. TASK 3B) You then need to sketch the item. Use the table opposite and blank boxes provided over the next few pages.
Grading Criteria Level 4: In the table show at least five different products. Write a simple description of your findings. Level 5: In the table show at least ten different products. Write a description of your findings. Level 6: In the table show at least fourteen different products. Write a detailed description of your findings.
