What is a desert?
• A place where there is a lot of sand• In the desert it is very hot during the
day but in the night it is cold
Deserts around the world
• Sahara Desert – in Africa. It is the largest desert on earth.
• Great Basin Desert - in North America
• Patagonian Desert - in Argentina• Arabian Desert – in Saudi Arabia• Gobi Desert – in Asia• Great Victoria – in Australia• In Europe there are no deserts

Camels• They can live for one
whole week without drinking water.
• Camels store a lot of food in their humps.
• In the desert camels are used to take people from one place to another.

Jerboas• A jerboa looks like a tiny mouse.• It has a long tail with a tuft at the end.• It has long back legs and small front legs.• With it’s long legs it can jump far away like a
kangaroo.

Coyote • An animal that is similar to a wolf.

down to hide.

Cactus• Cactus is the most common plant in
the desert.• This plant stores water in itself.

• An oasis is similar to a pond.• It provides the camels and other
animals that live in the desert water to drink.
