DEFINITION

An acute infectious disease caused by a flavivirus.It caused by four closely related virus and transmitted by the bite of the Aedes mosquito.The mosquito also called Aedes Aegypti.It also known as breakbone fever bone-crusher disease.The disease occurs in both epidemic and sporadic form in warm climates.

When a mosquito carrying dengue virus bites a person, the virus enter the skin together with the mosquito saliva.

The WBC responds by producing anumber of signaling proteins such as “interferon” .
