Academic Eligibility for Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.)

1. Indian Nationals Studying Abroad: AnIndian citizen who is ordinarily residingoutsideIndiaandholdsanIndianPassportandmusthavehadatleast3(three)yearsof education in a Foreign country duringthe last 6 (six) years and must pass thequalifying examination (inclusive of 11thand 12th standard or equivalent) fromabroadonly.

2. Persons of Indian Origin (PIO): Personswhoarecitizensofothercountries(exceptPakistanandBangladesh)whoatanytimeheldanIndianPassport,orwhooreitherofhisparentsoranyofhisgrandparents

were a citizen of India by virtue of theprovisionsof theConstitutionof IndiaorSec 2(b) of CitizenshipAct, 1955 (ActNo.57of1955).

3. Overseas Citizen of India (OCI):Apersonregistered as OCI Cardholder undersection7AoftheCitizenshipAct,1955.Thestudentadmittedunderthiscategorycando all activities except researchwork forwhichspecialpermissionisrequiredfromtheIndianMission/Post/FRROconcerned.

4. Foreign Nationals:Citizensofallcountriesother than India, who are not of IndianOriginasdefinedunderPIOandOCI.

Applicantshouldhave60%aggregatemarksor6.75CGPAona10pointgradeorequivalentgrades in aggregate for all subjects ofqualifyingexamination i.e. Senior Secondary[10+2] or equivalent from any system ofeducation as recognized by the Association

of IndianUniversities (AIU)with Physics andMathematics as compulsory subjects andany one of the following optional subjectsChemistry,Bio-technology,ComputerScience,Biology.

Applicant must have passed the qualifyingexaminationi.e.Four/Fiveyearundergraduateprogram in Engineering / Technology orequivalent in relevant discipline for M.Tech.

and an appropriate UG degree for MBAprogramme from any stream of educationrecognized as equivalent by the AIU/UGC/AICTE/otherstatutorybodiesasapplicable.

The minimum entry qualification foradmission to Ph.D. programme shall be amaster’s degree in Engineering/Technology/Science/Humanities/Management of theDTU or any other equivalent qualificationrecognizedbyUniversity.Inexceptionalcases

candidates with Bachelor of Engineering/Technology degreewith aminimum of 75%marks in aggregate or equivalent CGPA willalsobe considered for admission. (formoredetailvisitwww.dtu.ac.in/admission/Ph.D.).

General Eligibility Criterion for International Students• The Degrees/Certificates of the

International Students should havebeen recognized and approved by theAssociationofIndianUniversities(AIU)asequivalent to the corresponding IndianDegrees/Certificates.

• Theymustholdavalidpassportfromtheirrespectivecountries.

• Evidence of required academicperformance must be in the form ofcertified English transcripts listing allthe programs with the grades or marksearned. Transcripts in languages otherthanEnglisharenotacceptable.

• If theapplicanthaspassedthequalifyingexaminationwheregradesareawarded:

• Where the grade sheet doesn’t mentionthe equivalent percentage of marksfrom grade points, the candidate shouldsubmit a certificate of conversion fromthe concerned Institution/Universitymentioning either the convertedpercentageor the formula for the actualconversion of grade point average topercentageofmarks

• Where the grade sheet itself mentionstheequivalentpercentageofmarks fromthe grade points or formula for suchconversion, the candidate should getboth sides of the Degree/Grade Sheetphotocopied showing the equivalentpercentage of marks/conversion formulaandenclosewiththeApplicationForm.

Additional requirement / additional qualifications (UG)-1. Should have a valid SAT-II (Scholastic

AptitudeTest-II)score(Physics,ChemistryandMathematicslevel–II).

Admissionshallbedonecentrallythroughthecentralcounselingheldatnodalcentre,DASAappointed by Ministry of Human Resourceand Development, Government of India(MHRD,GoI)onyearlybasis.

Mode 2. (M2) Direct Admission for foreign nationals: Applications routed through GoI agencies (3% seats supernumerary basis):Under this category the application of thecandidates shall be routed directly throughIndianCouncilofCulturalRelation(ICCR),GoI,The form shall be accompanied by relevantdocuments attested by the authorizedpersonsoftheirrespectivecountries.

1. Should have a valid TOEFL/IELTS score.The condition shall be waived-off in theevent the University/Board from wherethe candidate has obtained the degree/certificateforqualifyingexaminationthatthemediumof instructionofthecoursestaught for qualifying degree has beenEnglish.

Under this category candidates shall applyon-line in the prescribed format beforethe last date directly on the web portal ofthe office of International Affairs, DelhiTechnological University. Admission ProcedureAdmission of all the international students will be done through the University’s Office of the International Affairs. The admission of International students is carried out in following different stages.

I. Application Procedure for International Students

International students have to follow thefollowingstepsforapplyingforadmission indifferentprogrammesoftheUniversity:

i. Apply online and channelize the printedcopyoftheapplicationalongwithrequisitedocuments• routed through their respectiveEmbassy/HighCommission/ConsulateinIndia(forthepurposeofverificationof their educational qualification viz.marksheet, degree…) to reach theOfficeoftheInternationalAffairs,DelhiTechnological University, Delhi, INDIA.(For those International students whoarealreadystudying in IndiaorhavinganIndiandegree)

• routed through Indian Embassy/High Commission in their respectivecountries(forthepurposeofverificationof their educational qualification viz.marksheet, degree…), to reach theOfficeoftheInternationalAffairs,DelhiTechnological University, Delhi, INDIA.(For those International students whowishtoapplyfromtheirowncountry-outsideIndia)

ii. The Office of the International Affairs,Delhi Technological University will getthe applications scrutinized by theDepartmental co-ordinator(s) thatapplicant want to join (Application musthave a three options for their choice ofprogrammesforeachcandidate.

iii. The Dean, International Affairs, DTU willcompile the information on the basis ofscrutinyandsendthelistfortheapprovalofVice-ChancellorDTU,andupongettingthe same, issue a provisional admissionlettertotheapplicant.

iv. Theprovisionaladmission letter coveringall the important information of thestudentlikeNameofthestudent,Gender,Date of Birth, Passport No., Name ofthe programme, etc. for meeting VISArequirements,willbesenttotheEmbassyaddressedtotheFirstSecretary(inchargeof Science, Technology & Education). Acopyshallalsobesenttotheprospectivestudent.

v. TheFirstSecretarywillofficiallyinformtheapplicanttotakeadmissioninDTUintheirchoiceofprogramme.

vi. Theapplicantwillpursueforvisaformalitiesfrom the country of domicile (studentvisaforB.Tech,M.Tech,MBAcoursesandResearchvisaforPh.D.course).

vii.After getting the Student/Research VISA,the student shall be required to pay theUniversityFee(seeFeeStructure).

viii.Admission of International students willbe confirmed only after verification oforiginal certificates, medical fitness testandpaymentofrequiredfees.

ix. WithintwoweeksofarrivalinIndiaregistertheirnameswiththepoliceintheForeignerRegionalRegistrationOffice(FRRO)ofthelocalPolice.

Notes:No International student shall be admittedto Delhi Technological University without aResearch / Student’s Visa. Such Student’s VisawillbeextendedbytheMinistryofHomeAffairsafterascertainingthatstudentpursuinghis/herstudies,isreceivingremittancethroughproperbankingchannels.TheadmissionofInternationalStudentstoEngineeringprogrammesisdonebytheMinistryofExternalAffairs,GovernmentofIndia,NewDelhi.NootherendorsementinlieuofResearch/Student’sVISAisacceptable.

REGISTRATION FEE : AT THE TIME OF APPLICATION: A NON REFUNDABLE FEE OF US$ 300 (US DOLLAR THREE HUNDRED ONLY) SHALL BE REMITTED.First Year Tuition Fee (UG & PG): TotalamountofUS$5000[US Dollar Five Thousand only] ShallberequiredtoberemittedforfirstyearTuitionFeeForeign Nationals from SAARC and ASEANcountries shall be allowed 50% fee waiver(Tuitionfeeonly)providedtheyhavestudied/arestudyinginSAARC/ASEANcountriesonly.They are required to submit an amount ofUS$2500[US Dollar Twenty Five hundred only] forfirstyeartuitionfee.The candidates fromNepal and Bhutan cansubmittheirfeesinEquivalentIndianRupees.However,theywillberequiredtogetExchange
