Earlier records also tell us that Alexander the Great enjoyed snow and ice flavoured with honey or wine. Marco Polo , a venetian merchant traveller brought the recipe of ice cream from China to Italy. It is also said that ice cream travelled in the following manner: Italian Duchess Catherine de Medici got married to King Henry II so she brought the dessert to France From France, it went to England and then it reached India.

Café Procope in France was the first café to serve ice cream to general public.

Jacob Fussel brought a revolution in the world of ice cream by opening an ice –cream factory in the United States in Baltimore to manufacture ice cream. He is also called the ‘Father of Ice-cream Industry’.

The first ice-cream factory in India was set up in Mumbai in 1948.
