• COALITION: Organizations working together in a common effort for a common purpose in order to make more effective and efficient use of resources.
• NETWORK: Individuals or organizations who share information, ideas, or resources.

•PARTNERSHIP: Individuals or organizations working together in a side-by-side effort to accomplish a common goal with a shared sense of purpose and a shared responsibility for the outcome.
HOW TO STRUCTURE A COALITION
• Involve all key players.• Choose a realistic strategy.• Establish a shared vision.• Agree to disagree in the process.• Make promises that can be kept.• Build ownership at all levels.• Publicize their success.

TURF ISSUES
• “Turf-ism” is the non-cooperation or conflict between organizations with common goals or interests. Expected to work together in a given situation, yet they compete or don’t communicate well.

Turf-ism exists because partners:
• Perceive incompatible goals• Defend their domain-don’t
want to lose power• AND…The most important
turf issue!
