Well what a Year, I think that everyone has been affected in one way or the other buy the crazy weather that the year has brought! One of the only bright spots in the Ag industry is the Cattle business as calf prices have held steady to last year. In most areas the feed is available may not be ideal feed but none the less its feed and the cow guys will take the opportunity to maintain or in some cases look to increase their herds. In the purebred industry we can always use some new ge-netics, and this year’s PGA sale will offer just that! This offer-ing has a bit of it all, some broody bred heifers that will contribute to your herd right off the start. The heifer calves will be an impressive bunch representing a wide range of sires and all offering great potential. As well there is a sec-ond calving cow that's shown what she can do, there is a couple pick offerings to go into the herd and select what will work for you also some semen and embryos. I welcome you to the Grant Hall December 14 to join us in some comradery and celebration that we got through 2019! PGA Group.
Special Representatives Neil Overby, President, Canadian Gelbvieh Assoc. Joe Barnett, President, ManSask Gelbvieh Assoc. Sarah Van Schothorst, CEO Canadian Gelbvieh Assoc
The partners started a heifer lottery in 2010. Individuals that have made purchases in previous fall sales will be entered into a lottery. The number of purchases made by an individual will determine the number of entries they will have in the lottery. The winning individual will be awarded $500 to be used towards a purchase of a female in this year’s sale. Willie Funk is the 2019 PGA Heifer Lottery winner

Come on in! Overby Stock Farm is excited to open the doors of their program with a flush of any female in the herd to the Gelbvieh and Balancer community! The herd of Gelbvieh and Balancer females is based on fundamentals, a pasture calving scenario focused on calving ease, udder quality to ensure management efficiency and hardiness to handle the fringe agriculture conditions in central Manitoba. Previous sales to other programs have showcased the easy doing nature of the OSF herd and the flexibility to succeed in a variety of environmental conditions no matter the location. The successful bidder of this lot also gets the added benefit of accessing the OSF semen inventory to source a sire for the flush if so desired with 2019 Canadian National Champion Bull SLC Strut 146E among the sires available. OSF will guarantee a minimum of 6 viable embryos with any additional embryos being property of the flush purchaser; no splitting of additional embryos thus no dis-pute. Supplemental sheets of the OSF herd with pedigrees will be available upon request prior to the sale and will be available on sale day. Selection of the female will be made prior to April 15, 2020, flush location and all costs of flush including transport, are the responsibility of the purchaser. OSF will assist in transport of the selected female to the flush location.

Katelyn has shown 187F in 4H as well as a few Jr shows with great success. We are offering half interest and no possession for the next couple years so Katelyn can continue to show in 4H once her show career comes to an end possession can be discussed! We believe that this female is destined to hit the donor pen. Her volume and mass are certainly what the breed offers and can use more of. SELLING 1/2 INTEREST NO POSSESSION UNTIL SHOW CAREER OVER

This full bodied, square sided, deep hip with lots of capacity should be able to calf anything when full grown. An easy pick when good cattle people came over for a visit this summer and men-tioned KCC 59F did draw their eyes and lost focus of others in pasture. She is bred to JNA 4E that presently has EPD’s of active sires in the top 30% for CED, WW, YW, & TM. Expecting early January calving which the Ness’s can take KCC 59F back, if your calving season is not in January

Gee WIZ where do I start, as this heifer really did impress me at weaning with a 66 lb birth weight, crossing the scale 242 days later at 771 lbs. JOE
490G is square fronted, spring of rib, medium bone and skull, great dark facial pigmentation and lots of hair. As I re-view her dam’s prodigy JKL 476B hasn’t missed a beat by selling prodigy to Diamond A, Jen-Ty, and Barry & Robin Mader (that sold the bull after breed-ing). Now that I’m writing this why am I selling her?

A dark red power heifer with lots of hair and volume. KGS Redwood is a Thick Bugger son that came to us from the Smithers program. He has left a fine group of females in our herd. This female should represent the group well. Both sire and dam are 3/4 blood Gelbvieh. Her BLB Stacker dam is a very solid female who has a full sibling in the bull pen this year. Bred early to DVE 32E.

We really like these Chain Reaction 1C females. They are high volumed, moderate and sound structured. With VV Young Blood 22Y and the old GKT Boo Boo bull in the pedigree, the maternal side is very high in this female. She is bred early to the dark red Banjo son DVE 32E and she is setting up a beautiful udder. You will appreciate this fe-male for years to come.

This long smooth heifer is the first SLL Dakota heifer to ever sell. Dakota was purchased from Smithers land and livestock at Agribition in 2016 for 13500. Dakota was admired by many for his performance, length, thick-ness and haircoat, all things that the commercial cattle industry is built upon. We have been very happy with the Dakota calves and Purdy Girl 76G is a good haired correct heifer. We think she will be a great addition to any program.

This sweetheart of a bred heifer is a direct daughter of JRI Super Duty, a very popular sire in our AI program due to his impressive and consistent genetics. 800F comes out of first calf heifer JOE 463D and is a long but moderate sized cow that is displaying a great ease of fleshing, straight lines, smooth stride, impressive width and an absolutely perfect udder. She was AI bred on April 11, 2019 to SLC 7E Viper and was pasture exposed to our heifer bull, KJL 85F Titanic, from April 18, 2019 until May 20, 2019. Preg check was performed on October 31, 2019 and con-firmed to be a 6+ month pregnancy
