This was the first full group to officially complete Stage 6 studies since the School Board made the decision to extend schooling at Kuyper to Years 11 and 12. And yes, it seems like only yesterday that the decision was made and the school went into overdrive in preparation for the road ahead. Three NESA inspections later (and all very successfully completed), and here we are. This was a celebration of nine wonderful students graduating; a celebration of each student’s unique gifts and character; a celebration of God’s plans being revealed through a faithful community. The Year 12 celebration was staged in three parts. Last Monday afternoon the Kuyper community gathered to welcome our graduates. We spent the next hour celebrating with canapes and cold drinks as our students were photographed by professional photographers and past Kuyper parents Jason and Tracy Lindsay from Natural Photography. As you can see over the next couple of pages the photographs are beautiful. The graduates, parents and staff then travelled up the mountain to Loxley on Bellbird which overlooks the beautiful Grose Vale. We were greeted with music by Mr Rob Weule (Year 4 teacher) and his wife BeeJ, two very talented musicians. We enjoyed a delicious meal and held the fundraising Silent Auction. Our Year 12 students decided to follow Mikayla Sinfield’s legacy from last year not to have a traditional Graduation event, but to take the focus off themselves and place it on others in need. The sole purpose of the silent auction was to raise money for children’s programs in Vanuatu. An amazing $2500 was raised on the night! Thank you to our generous community for donating items and funds. The culmination of the farewell last week was the Year 12 Graduation Celebrations Assembly. This event, shared with families and friends, acknowledged each and every Year 12 student’s journey through Kuyper. This was a time of goodbyes, thank yous, prayers and speeches given by a number of teachers with Kaitlin Godsell giving the student address. We also listened to a musical performance from our talented students, watched the highlights reel from Kindy to Year 12 (oh how cute they were!), heard about their experiences in Vanuatu and played a whole school game. The entire Celebrations was organised by our graduates and ended with more than a few high fives from other students as they departed. What a happy- sad moment (yup I’m the English teacher!). ;) We have no doubt that this group of graduates will start the next chapter of their journey equipped with the skills and values to make a positive impact in the world outside of Kuyper. Thank you to parents for their support over the years as student success requires a partnership between home and school. Father we lift up our Year 12 students to you; Brayden, Kaitlin, Josh, Emily, Jessica, Ben, Stephanie, Sarah, and Ryan. Thank you for the blessing it has been to work alongside these young men and women. Thank you for the hard work, perseverance, and dedication that they have committed to their studies for the past two years. We can reflect on Colossians 3:23-24 “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.” Our Year 12 students have lived this verse in a very real way. What an encouragement they have been to the students that follow them. Dear Graduates,

It has been such an adventure being your core teachers for the past three years! You have taught us both so much. Thank you for the dabbing lessons, water bottle flipping lessons, the dance lessons, yoga-on-the-top-bunk lessons but most of all thank you for the memories. God has blessed you all with unique talents and abilities. We pray that you will use these gifts wisely and continue to share them with others.

We know the Lord has a plan for you, even if you might not be too sure what that is. We pray that you will hold fast to the Lord, remember to keep in contact with each other and come and visit us! Thank you for being a part of the Kuyper family and thank you parents for sharing your children with us.

Dear Parents, As a school, we regularly seek your feedback on how we are going. This is not only something all schools are compelled to do but something we desire to do as we seek to grow our school in ways that support the school’s original vision and the needs of families today. Can you please spend a few moments completing this online Parent Survey by following this link

https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/C8RPFMZ ? It will assist us in our planning for the future and understanding of how we are performing. I welcome your questions and conversation. In addition to the survey, you are always welcome to see me in person at a convenient time to share your views, joys and journey at Kuyper. By His grace, Ian Shaw

New Staff at Kuyper in 2018 A new teacher commencing next year at Kuyper is Mrs Marjike Long.

Marjike will be teaching Music and Drama and some elective subjects

to the secondary school. Marjike is an experienced, energetic teacher

with a passion for the Creative Arts. An interesting note of trivia is that

Marjike was taught by Mr Shaw many years ago at Tyndale Christian

School. Marjike is married with 2 children who both attend Christian

schools. We look forward to welcoming Mrs Long.

At the Year 12 Graduation Dinner on Monday 13 November, our students held a silent auction to raise money for the children of Vanuatu. $2,500 was raised. Thank you to all our generous bidders! We would like to invite our Kuyper community to participate in the auction as well. Therefore, we have selected a variety of items to remain at school in order for the broader Kuyper community to join in. The photographs shows our items to bid on, please come and look at our display in the Office. If you would like to place a bid, please fill in the form on the bench and place it in the box. Bidding closes at 3pm on Friday 1 December. We would really appreciate your support and hope that you will join us in raising much-needed funds to support the children of Vanuatu. The money raised will go towards school resources, play equipment, toys for the local hospital and donations to children’s programs at local churches. Any donations will make a real difference for under privileged children in Vanuatu for decades to come. The winning bidders will be contacted by telephone on 4 December, so don’t forget to include your telephone number on your bid. Items need to be paid for upon pick-up before last day of term, 7th December. A special thank you to all those in our community who have donated items! Alexis Clarke Secondary Teacher
