The 18th
International Congress of International Society for Ethnopharmacology & the 5th
International
Congress of the Society for Ethnopharmacology, India (ISE-SFEC 2018) will be jointly organized by
Department of Pharmacy, Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Dhaka, Bangladesh in association with
Society for Ethnopharmacology, India during January 13-15, 2018 at Dhaka, Bangladesh. This congress will
highlight on “Ethnopharmacology & Drug Development: Innovation meets Tradition” and focus on several
crucial and contemporary issues on the scientific study based on of Ethnopharmacology and medicinal
plants by the renowned scientists throughout the world. This will provide an ideal platform to the
participants to present their research work, interact, debate and disseminate of ideas amongst the
distinguished professionals, eminent scientists, technologist and industrialist. On behalf of the organizing
committee, International Society for Ethnopharmacology and Society for Ethnopharmacology, it is our

University of Dhaka is the oldest university in modern Bangladesh. Established in 1921
University of Dhaka opened its doors to students with Sir P.J. Hartog as the first Vice-
Chancellor of the University. The University was set up in a picturesque part of the city known
as ‘Ramna’ on 600 acres of land. At present the University consists of 13 Faculties, 80
Departments, 11 Institutes, 20 residential halls, 3 hostels and more than 51 Research Centers.
The number of students and teachers has risen to about 37,064 and 1,926 respectively. The main purpose of
the University was to create new areas of knowledge and disseminate this knowledge to the society through
its students. Since its inception the University has a distinct character of having distinguished scholars as
faculties who have enriched the global pool of knowledge by making notable contributions in the fields of
teaching and research. The University of Dhaka is dedicated to the advancement of learning, and is

Society for Ethnopharmacology, India is a registered under the West Bengal Society
Registration act and also affiliated to the International Society for Ethnopharmacology. The
society was formed in 2013 and has made its presence through the country, which provides
networking opportunity for development and promotion of medicinal plants and
ethnopharmacology. The Society works on dissemination of knowledge in this area through
different local chapters made in different parts of India with the major highlights on “Globalizing local

International Society for Ethnopharmacology (ISE) is an International scientific
organization of researchers dedicated to the interdisciplinary study of the pharmacological
actions of plants, animals, insects, and other organisms used in medicines of indigenous
and modern, past and present cultures. The major objective of the ISE is to promote
Ethnopharmacology as a scientific field of research. The Journal of Ethnopharmacology is dedicated to
the exchange of information and understandings about people’s use of natural products and their bio-

Submission of abstract
Abstracts are invited from the scientific community for oral and poster presentation. Abstract should be
prepared using Times New Roman, 12 font with double line spacing and not exceeding 300 words.
Underline the name of the presenting author. Send your abstract(s) to [email protected]. All accepted
abstracts will appear in conference proceedings. Peer reviewed papers will be published in the special issue
of Dhaka University Pharmacy Faculty Journal (Dhaka University Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences).
