March 27, 2015 Northeastern School District
BOBCAT PRiDE
This weekend, eight of our students represented NHS in the York College of Pennsylvania High School Model United
Nations Conference. I am excited to announce that three of them won Best Delegate awards from their committees
(there were only five committees)! This also means that our Bobcats took home more awards than any other school
present at the conference!
Please congratulate Best Delegate winners, Riley Cagle,
Lindsay Myers, and Destiny Eisenhour when you see them
this week!

What a way to enrich our cur-
riculum and get our hands on
SCIENCE!
Senior Alaina Einsig has been engaged in an Independent Research in Science (IRIS) program at
NHS, studying astrophysics with mentor and physics teacher, Ms. D’Orazio. On March 20, 2015,
Alaina presented her research on Inflation Theory, a counter-argument to the Big Bang Theory,
regarding the creation and expansion of the universe. Alaina thanked teachers Ms. D’Orazio,
Ms. Byrne, and Ms. Fertenbaugh for their support. Alaina is headed to Dickinson College next
year to study astrophysics! We are proud of your hard work Alaina!!
Students with amazing futures ahead of them, and we are proud to have them associ-
ated with Northeastern High School. Thanks to Coach Muraco for sharing.
Senior girls basketball players, Payton Hauck and Ashley Myers,
have been selected to play in the White Rose Senior All-Star game
at Dover High School on March 22 at 2pm. All the girls basketball
coaches in York County voted on players, and Payton and Ashley
were selected on this basis. Congrats Ladies!!!
Coach Muraco shares that two of his senior wrestlers, Levi Eisen-
hart and Peter Gordineer, were slated to appear in the YAIAA All-
Star match held on March 17, 2015 at Spring Grove HS. Both of
these young men declined to participate, instead choosing to sup-
port their former teammate and friend, Anthony Lease (Class of
‘14) whose mother recently passed away. The young men chose to
attend the viewing instead of the match. We know they made the
right decision and we are proud of their leadership and maturity.
They are great!

A big Thank You to Tur-

The Shallow Brook Drama Club performed their first dinner theater production Death by Dessert. There were approximately 100 people in attendance. The cast and crew con-

which consisted of salad, choice of pasta, breadsticks, beverage, and of course…. des-
sert. A DVD of the performance will soon be available for purchase. Many thanks to MISS
NAGLE for putting together such a fantastic show!!

ated Reader reward!
SBI 6th Grade Celebrates Youth Art Month
6th Grade students at SBI are celebrating Youth Art Month
by creating a permanent installation piece for their building. The
artwork is based off the history of Friendship Quilts. Students
learned that during the Westward Expansion many friends and
families moved westward in hopes of land ownership and a better
life. Not knowing if they were ever going to see each other again,
loved ones would decorate squares of fabric and piece them together
to make a beautiful quilt. SBI students are putting a wire twist on
the tradition. After learning about the characteristics of the wire
medium such as being measured in gauges and the importance of
using annealed wire for their armature, each student decorated his
or her square in as a remembrance of each student as they broaden
their horizons and move on to Middle School. Upon completion
these squares will be joined to make a beautiful installation piece
that will be on display in the Art Lobby of SBI.
Teamwork at it’s Best
A class at York Haven's Elementary had a chance to
work on an Easter project with the Head Start pro-
gram at the school. The older kids had a chance to be
mentors for the younger students to help guide them
in the steps of the project.
