Cal/OSHA High Heat Procedures (effective May 1, 2015): 1. Supervisors will maintain frequent contact and monitor employees who are working in high heat conditions. 2. Employees will be encourages to drink water often during the day. 3. Mandatory buddy system will be implemented so employees can monitor each other when working in high heat. 4. Water containers will be refilled with cool, clean water when the level has fallen to half full. 5. Water will be placed near the work and follow the work. 6. Shade or shade structures will be available

Safety requirements when working on high heat days

The NEW Cal/OSHA Heat Illness Prevention standards require that when temperatures are expected to equal or be greater than 95⁰ Fahrenheit a safety meeting will be held at the start of shift to review high heat safety procedures with workers.

Cal/OSHA High Heat Procedures (effective May 1, 2015):1. Supervisors will maintain frequent contact and monitor employees

who are working in high heat conditions.2. Employees will be encourages to drink water often during the day.3. Mandatory buddy system will be implemented so employees can

monitor each other when working in high heat.4. Water containers will be refilled with cool, clean water when the

level has fallen to half full.5. Water will be placed near the work and follow the work.6. Shade or shade structures will be available for employees to take

“cool down” breaks.7. If a supervisor needs to leave the job they will pick an employee

who is authorized call emergency services if needed.8. Any employee with symptoms of heat illness or complaining of

heat illness will be directed to take a cool down break in the shade and drink water.

9. An employee will not return to work unless they recover fully.10. Medical services will be provided or Emergency services will be

called when employee heat illness symptom are not improving.

On high heat days before employees leave work they will verify with their supervisor they are not suffering from heat illness symptoms.

Immediately report any case of heat illness to DispatchPrevent heat illness. No one needs to become sick!
