Cooking and Planting

Battle of the PIE!!!

Now the battle begins…which pie will gain Mr Umer’s praise? After tasting the spicy version of shepherd’s pie made by Mr Jon’s team, Mr Umer declared it the overall winner compared to the tamer, authentic British variety prepared so lovingly by

Miss Lisa’s group! The children wrote out their recipes in beautiful handwriting to take home and try out with their

families!

Miss Lisa’s group planted a herb border of the herbs Rosemary, basil and parsley around the schools newly planted vegetable plot.

They tasted the dried version of these herbs and decided what to put into their cooking. Then we discussed how to care for the seedlings and the idea of companion planting.

Mr Jon’s group dug a new plot for the runner beans Cedar Class sent to The Lyceum. Class 4 will follow this experiment up. It will be interesting to see if the beans grow differently here in Pakistan

The ECO Club took us to a local nursery in Lahore.

We saw lots of plants that we knew but many that we had never seen or heard of before.

The ECO club discussed ways of using plants to improve their playground environment.

They also explored ways of raising money and finding time to do the work.

At last the sun was shining and we felt chilled!!

Mr Woodings, shall we buy some more of these 1000w invertors for school???

Mrs Alford, here is some scientific research that chickens would be very happy roaming our playground!!

Can you guess what we had for afters at Salt and Pepper?

Mr Woodings may know!
