Dear readers, More information of MNC companies with an own story Wednesday 29 September 2010 Today the group of 30 students visited the Rabobank. The appointment was made with Mr. P. Bressens and Mr. Orlando Won That „our Dutch Farmer Bank‟ expected a lot from us was clear. Be- fore the start of the study trip we all received the Harvard Business Case that was re- leased a few months ago. The Rabobank requested advise on the strategy of China for the upcoming 5 years. This needed to be presented to the board of Rabobank China. As we all know, the Rabobank has a famous history with a special interest in the Food and Agriculture business. That there is a lot of potential here in China, with for instance the growing middle class, is clear. After the casework and presentation, we all had a drink and a bit on the 46th floor and talk to the management staff of Rabobank in an informal manner. This was highly appreciated amongst the students. Thursday 30 September 2010 As mentioned in day report 3, today we left Shanghai for two days to visit Naked Retreats in the bamboo forest. In the morning at 05.30 hours all students were having breakfast and took the train to Hangzhou. Even though it was so early, all students were on time and a few of them could still smile. At the station of Hangzhou we where picked up by Teun Hane- graaf. Mr. Hanegraaf had organized transportation to the resort. The bus trip took about 1,5 hours and was all the way up into the mountains. The resort, which is partly still under con- struction, has as its main goal „sustainability‟. They strive to become the number one LEED Platinum resort in Asia and the # 2 worldwide. We all went for a hike and enjoyed the few, history and we where confronted with the living of the local people. I can tell you, this is a lot dif- ferent that how they live downtown. Day report 4

As mentioned in day report 3, today we left Shanghai for two days to visit Naked Retreats in the bamboo forest. In the morning at 05.30 hours all students were having breakfast and took the train to Hangzhou. Even though it was so early, all students were on time and a few of them could still smile. At the station of Hangzhou we where picked up by Teun Hane-graaf. Mr. Hanegraaf had organized transportation to the resort. The bus trip took about 1,5 hours and was all the way up into the mountains. The resort, which is partly still under con-struction, has as its main goal „sustainability‟. They strive to become the number one LEED

Platinum resort in Asia and the # 2 worldwide. We all went for a hike and enjoyed the few, history and we where confronted with the living of the local people. I can tell you, this is a lot dif-ferent that how they live downtown.

Day report 4

Friday 1 October 2010

Some of us did get up at 05.30 to see the sunrise. The treatment for getting up so early is a magnificent view overlooking the valley. At 8 a.m. we had eggs and bacon for breakfast, made in our houses by the “IE‟s” (the grandma‟s of the village, a common name here in China). After breakfast we had a workshop focused on sus-tainability and marketing and at 10.30 we took the bus to the railway station.

Normally I should end with the day report now, but the „Chinese Experience‟ continued... Due to the fact that the first of October is a national holiday, the traffic is so hectic and the stations are so crowed that the time became a constraint. All 30 students tried to get in line to have the security check; this is the first and major bottleneck of a too crowed place. The half of the group was able to get the train in time. Unfortunately, the other half did not. What will you do if you are still with 12 students in a too crowed place and all trains a fully booked? Mr. Hanegraaf was able to get us a bus, which was rather small, but better than waiting. Finally we managed it check in the new hotel and get the entire group prepared for the Nyenrode diner at the Langham hotel.

The „Chinese experience‟ continues,
