The Gusties will look to build off of their last appearance, a 4-2 win over UW-Stout on Monday, Sept. 2nd. Saturday’s kick-off is set for 2:00 p.m. SERIES HISTORY Saturday’s match will be the seventh ever meeting between Gustavus and UW-La Crosse in women’s soccer. The Eagles hold the upper hand in the all-time series with a record of 4-2-0. The last time these two teams squared off against each other was back on Sept. 17th, 2008 when UW-La Crosse defeated Gustavus 2-1 in St. Peter. NEWS AND NOTES Cartony Scores Twice... After being held scoreless in the opening match of the 2013 season, the Gusties came back to score four goals in a 4-2 victory over UW-Stout in the second game of the season thanks in large part to midfielder Amanda Cartony (Sr., Stillwater, Minn.). Gustavus’ leading scorer each of the last two seasons, Cartony scored twice in the win, including the game-winning goal in the 82nd minute. With 21 career goals, the senior is now two scores from cracking the top 10 list in career goals scored at Gustavus. Making A Splash... Gustavus got key contributions from a trio of first-year players in Monday’s win. Maddison Ackiss (Fy., Fairbanks, Alaska), Coursey Edwards (Fy., Eden Prairie, Minn.), and Jana Elliott (Fy., Eagan, Minn.) all registered a point on the afternoon. Ackiss scored the match’s opening goal and later recorded an assist for a total of three points on the day. Edwards and Elliott later connected on the final goal of the match. Elliott assisted Edwards for the first assist of her collegiate career. It was also Edwards’ first goal as a Gustie. ABOUT TODAY’S MATCH The Gustavus Adolphus women’s soccer team will take to the road for the first time in 2013 when it travels to La Crosse, Wis. for a non-conference match-up with the UW-La Crosse Eagles on Saturday, Sept. 7th. The Gusties will look to build off of their last appearance, a 4-2 win over UW-Stout on Monday, Sept. 2nd. Saturday’s kick-off is set for 2:00 p.m.

SERIES HISTORY Saturday’s match will be the seventh ever meeting between Gustavus and UW-La Crosse in women’s soccer. The Eagles hold the upper hand in the all-time series with a record of 4-2-0. The last time these two teams squared off against each other was back on Sept. 17th, 2008 when UW-La Crosse defeated Gustavus 2-1 in St. Peter.

NEWS AND NOTES Cartony Scores Twice... After being held scoreless in the opening match of the 2013 season, the Gusties came back to score four goals in a 4-2 victory over UW-Stout in the second game of the season thanks in large part to midfielder Amanda Cartony (Sr., Stillwater, Minn.).
