Print data notes for Cardboard Shelf Displays

File formatPlease send us for your cardboard shelf displays a PDFdocument in the format PDF/X-3 Standard (Version 1.4) andembed all fonts completely. Please make sure that theimage resolution remains unchanged and is ≥ 300dpi andthat the document is clearly named (preferably with ourorder number).

Additionally you can send us files in an open file format:Adobe InDesign, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe PhotoShop. Theimages should not be embedded in the data, but linkedfrom a separate folder. All fonts must be supplied in theirentirety.

Note: Photoshop is an image editing program. It is onlysuitable to a limited extent for creating and setting fonts, logos, etc., because the data is rasterized when savingwithout the corresponding settings. Please send all fontsand all used pictures and graphics.

Please avoid formats with lossy compression such as GIF orJPEG. These lead to undesirable results depending on theprocess.

Please also avoid the PNG format as it does not support theCMYK colour space.

LayoutPlease make sure to create the print data for yourcardboard shelf displays in the correct scale. For processingreasons, we additionally require circumferential trimming bythe punching or format line. The exact values can be foundon page 1 of the respective data sheet.

Safety dist. When designing your cardboard shelf displays, werecommend that you pull elements located at the edge ofthe end format or punching line into the bleed or let themend with a safety distance (see page 1 in the respective datasheet) in front of it.

Colour spacePlease create for your cardboard shelf displays all data (alsoimages or other objects) in CMYK and / or spot colours. Please convert RGB data to CMYK yourself to avoidunwanted color changes. For production reasons, spotcolours are only possible in offset printing. If it is a digitalprint, these colours are simulated as well as possible. Themaximum ink application should not exceed 320 %.

Black compositionBlack and grey fonts as well as objects should only becreated in pure black (0/0/0/100) CMYK. Using black madeout of several colours is not recommended as it can easilylead to slight inaccuracies and single color flashes. In orderfor black areas to appear deep black, it is necessary to add aso-called "sub-color addition": Cyan. This only applies tolarge black areas and headlines - not to smaller font sizes!

Our recommendation is:Use black with 50% cyan and 100% black (50/0/0/100) CMYK.

OverprintThe overprint function can be used when creating the printdata in individual cases for your cardboard shelf displays toavoid possible white flashes during later printing. Whenoverprinting, however, it should be noted that the colours inoffset printing are translucent. If, for example, a blue circleis printed on an orange background, this does not result in ablue circle, but in a mixed color of green. Overprintingtherefore does not work with colored motifs, only blackobjects can overprint colored backgrounds in most cases.

White elements that are set to overprint are not visible inthe print!

With the exception of refinements, the punch outlines or thecontour cuts, you should therefore avoid the overprintfunction unless you explicitly want this effect!

TrappingOverfills/underfillings don't have to be created separately. We take care of that, individually fitting to each product.

ResolutionIn order to achieve a high-quality result, the pictures on yourcardboard shelf displays must have a sufficient resolution at100% scaling in the creation format. Please note theinformations on page 1 of the data sheet. If images with alarger scale should be integrated, the resolution must becorrespondingly higher, alas with a lower scalecorrespondingly lower. Please also ensure that theresolution is not reduced by incorrect settings whencreating PDFs.

Print finishingIf you want to refine your cardboard shelf displays, youmust create this refinement as a special colour (spot color)in your data. It is important that you name the special colourwith the finishing and set it to "overprint"! Only in this way

can the finishing be applied as desired. If you don't set thespecial colour to overprint, the underlying color is omittedand a white area (paper white) is refined.

BarcodesIf barcodes are to be printed on your cardboard shelfdisplays, please note the following: Bar codes must usuallybe created according to "DIN EN 797 (ISO 15420) and CEN /ANSI-DIN EN 1635 (ISO 15416)" and reduced or enlargedaccording to the SC standard.

You need sufficient contrast to the background - ideally100% black on a white field. Please be careful not to mix theblack with cyan, magenta or yellow. Only a pure blackguarantees an exact representation on the printed imageand readability for barcode scanners.

Please use vector data only.

Punch contour / contour cutPlease use only the latest punch outline to build the printlayout of your cardboard shelf displays on a scale of 1:1. Thepunch outline should be created as a special color with thedesignation "Cutting Line" in a separate layer with theattribute "overprinting".

Data transferPlease send us your print data for your cardboard shelfdisplays via email. For print data over 20 MB, werecommend that you send us your print data via Dropbox, the online service www.wetransfer.com or on a physicalmedium (CD, DVD, USB stick).

Please only send us files that are required for the order inquestion. The data should be clearly structured and easy toidentify. We also need a PDF to check the position andcolour distribution or alternatively a colour proof or printsample.

Print approvalBefore production starts you will receive a PDF file to viewthe complete printing plate layout of your cardboard shelfdisplays. Please also check this PDF for typos and spellingmistakes. Note that all colors on a monitor cannot bedisplayed with color accuracy. Please give us your approvalby replying to the email we sent you.

Once the PDF file has been approved, we'll send you a 1:1plot, if necessary, as well as a colour proof for approval forprinting. Please note that spot colors can only be simulatedin CMYK. An approval form is enclosed with the proof andplot, which we receive back completed by fax. We alsoaccept approval e-mails, which refer specifically to proofing

and plotting.

Production times without delay can only be guaranteed ifthe data is submitted in due time.

The time required for the preparation and shipping of theseapproval documents is to be ensured by the punctualsubmission of data.

We require your written approval before manufacturing anynecessary tools (embossing dies, sieves, etc.).

Without the written approval of all documents they can notbe produced!
