On Thursday, 9th July commencing at 9.00am, there will be an incursion for Year One students. The fire safety program ‘Staying Alive’ has been implemented at our school in recent years for our Year

One students. The program will be conducted by Fireman Mr Duff in our school hall.

Students will be discussing fire safety at school and in the home. The program incorporates demonstrations of the well renowned strategies of ‘Get Down Low When It’s Time to Go’ and ‘Stop’ Drop and Roll.

Dalmeny PS would like to thank Mr Duff and his team for providing this vital program for our students. Year One Team

THE PREMIER’S SPELLING BEE

After a successful first year in the competition sponsored by the NSW Premier’s Department, Dalmeny PS is once again keen to ‘strut’ their spelling skills.

This competition is open to all Yr 3-6 public school students across NSW. During the initial weeks of Term 3, class trials will be conducted leading up to finals in Stages 2 and 3. Our two ‘best’ spellers in each stage will then compete at Regional level from September 21st. Word lists created by the Macquarie Dictionary will be available from the website (www.pau.nsw.edu.au - then click on ‘Spelling’) from the start of Term 3.

Kids – got nothing to do over the holidays except play computer games? Try something new - read a dictionary! You’ll be amazed at what you find in there and think of the fantastic words that you will be able to impress your teachers with next term. Happy holidays and happy spelling! B. Sue Co-ordinator

MathsFunDayLast week all students participated in our school Maths Fun Day. Students were engaged in a range of practical and

enjoyable mathematics based activities that saw them measure, estimate, calculate, trace, draw, problem solve, work with

friends and above all extend their thinking skills. The day was very successful and

students reported how they enjoyed their experiences. A big thank you to the

teachers for their organisation, with special thanks to our mathematics

committee.
