Music Assembly
ASSEMBLY What an outstanding assembly we had this morning with our pre-primary students holding centre stage as our assembly hosts. The theme for their assembly performance was around the Aboriginal Dreamtime with lots of red, black and yellow being featured. All of the students spoke confidently and clearly on the microphone - which certainly impressed the audience. The students shared with us many facts and stories about Aboriginal culture as well as portraying the story “The Hairy One” and fun dances “Ridgey Didge” and “The Kangaroo Rock”. Congratulations to all pre-primary students, parents and staff. LAPATHON RAFFLE There was much excitement at the end of the assembly this morning with the drawing of the raffle prizes for the P&C lapathon. So far the lapathon has raised almost $4800 with some further student sponsorship money still to come. This is an exceptional effort from our school community. Jessica Kitin was the lucky first prize winner and will no doubt enjoy spending her $150 voucher courtesy of Care for Kids. I would like to acknowledge and extend a huge thank you to Tiffany Adair for her excellent coordination of this P&C fundraising event. NATURE PLAY BUSYBEE (10:00am Sunday, 18 September) This Sunday we are hoping for a large number of parents to come along and participate in the next phase of our Nature Play construction. The final zone to be developed is the creek bed play area which will run down from the pre-primary building alongside the junior play area. A contractor will be coming in during the term three holidays to construct a large part of this area, however, there is some preliminary work that needs to be completed first. This largely entails the removal of existing turf and the planting of a large number of native plants and shrubs. We will be starting this project at 10:00am. If you are able to lend a hand please let either Amanda Wood (0409 994822) or the school office know.

CHESS CLUB Yesterday afternoon our school hosted a group of enthusiastic chess players from North Beach Primary School. The event was a great success with students thoroughly enjoying the opportunity to pit their chess skills against an unknown opponent. Once again Mrs Melville did a wonderful job of coordinating and organising this event and indeed the chess club though out the year. See inside for further details. PHYSICAL EDUCATION NEWS Unfortunately we will be losing the teaching and organisational skills of Ms Ranger at the end of this term. Ms Ranger has only been with us for the past 9 months but has quickly made a very big impression with her vision and direction in the physical education area. Ms Ranger is heading off across the ditch to New Zealand and we certainly thank her for her excellent contribution to Dalmain and wish her all the very best in her new venture in life.
Have a great week!

As a school we use the You Can Do It! program which focuses on the 5 keys to success.
This term we have been focusing on the key “Confidence”.
Teachers have chosen students from their class who have been demonstrating exemplary “Confidence” skills inside and outside of the classroom.
It was a beautiful spring day yesterday so our class decided to sit in the Nature Play Area and read a book in the sun. What a wonderful,
relaxing time we had!
