DALEKOARTS OPENS INAUGURAL SEASON THIS WEEK
New Pragues professional theatre company will open the first
production of its inaugural season Friday
MAY 31st, 2013 The set is up, the lights are hung, the actors
are ready to go; New Prague is soon to be home to aprofessional
theatre company.
DalekoArts, the young company headed up by New Prague native Ben
Thietje and his wife Amanda White, will open itsinaugural season
with Neil Simon's The Odd Couple this Friday, June 7th at 7:30pm at
the New Prague Middle School.
"I can't tell you how excited the cast and crew is for this,"
said Thietje. "Working outside of the Twin Cities isn't
somethingthey get to do all that often, so this is definitely an
awesome experience. They're really looking forward to getting to
know anew audience."
The show is anchored by Minnesota stage veteran E.J. Subkoviak,
who's appeared in theatres all over the Twin Cities includingthe
Children's Theatre Company, Park Square Theatre, and The Jungle
Theater. Subkoviak's "Oscar Madison" will play oppositeThietje's
"Felix Ungar." The two have appeared on stage together several
times in the past, and have been friends sincecollege.
"We work together very well," explained Thietje. "It's a joy to
be able to work with someone you've known since you were akid. It
makes the whole thing that much more enjoyable."
The show is being directed by DalekoArts co-Artistic Director,
Amanda White, who recently finished her first year as the
newManaging Director at Mixed Blood Theatre in Minneapolis.
This production is perfect chemistry," said White. "Its a team
of great comedic artists performing for a savvy and funaudience.
The Odd Couple isa classic, and I like to think weve given it some
fresh air. It will be a total delight to present itto the
communityand its a great way to launch what we hope will be years
of theatre-making history in New Prague.
DalekoArts first season is sponsored by Prairie Pond Winery. The
first fifty patrons to order tickets to opening nightsthroughout
the season will also receive an invitation to a post-show Opening
Night Party hosted by Prairie Pond.
"It's a fun way to thank our patrons, mingle a bit, and just
celebrate the opening of a new show," said Thietje. "We feel
verylucky to have a partner like Prairie Pond for this first
season. It's a perfect place to grab a glass of wine with some
friendsbefore a show."
